another one for the roumour mill:
"On the prepaid option, the 8GB version will retail for R7999 and the 16GB version for R9799. The Cellucity spokesperson could not yet confirm the contract options, as they are still awaiting confirmation on whether a pay-in will be required or whether it will be worked into the monthly contract fee."
"A Cellucity spokesperson, however, confirmed that the iPhone 3G will indeed be available at all branches, which will be open from 6am to midnight on Friday."

If it is going to be that expensive it would be better to get the phone from the states. You can get one from an Apple store for $699 if you don't do the in-store activation. They will then rebate you as soon as you sign up with them, which we can't do of-course. At todays exchange rate that will cost me R5716 to get the iphone - a whole lot cheaper than the above price!
Well it seems like Cellucities price might be a bit high. Word on the street (The Offical iPhone 3G thread) is:
8GB - R6500
16GB -R8000
If they are right, im getting me one pronto!
Just how do they equate that to $200?
Seems to be a case of Chinese (Telkom) Maths

I would imagine that those prices are buying the phone without a contract. The $200 price cap is only applicable when subsidised on a contract
Back home with my 16Gig!!![]()
If you still need to activate using iTunes let me know how it goes.
... and of course there is the 237Mb download of the 2.1 software update![]()
