AT that pricing, the youth/mass market apple are aimimg for will rather purchase a laptop,desktop computer that an overprices phone.

Component wise, they reckon it costs apple under $100 dollers to make the phone, so purchasing it in South Africa for more than $500, worst mistake any company wanting to market it here can make. It will go the route of the IPhone 1.0, hardly anyone has one, more the "must have" ppl, micro market.

What I would like to know is if we will be one of the lucky few countries that get an unlocked iPhone, usable with any operator and not network locked to just one. That would be cool. I'd consider buying one on prepaid then.

I for one hope the iPhone will be priced according to all the hype it is getting. So I'd like to see it being market for the same price as a small car or a large LCD TV.

Seriously - people seem to go on and on and on about this fruit company product as if it is some kind of amazing new invention.

Well it's not - just as they pirated the GUI from Xerox back in the late 70's they are now pirating "the best of Nokia" and putting a fruit logo on it. And that is the whole point of an Apple. It's called the PHR concept and it is something Steve and Steve came up with in kindergarten. Pirate - Hype - Ripoff.

Stage 1 – done, it has all the best features pirated from Nokia.
Stage 2 – yep, certainly seems to be a lot of hype around it alright.
Stage 3 - heed my words people - it will be an exceptional one – a lot of suckafools are gonna pay premium Randz for it – fruity !

I am not an fanboi, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Nokia has never made anything similar to the iPhone. Apple made the iPhone, their first phone, outside of their core business and it is such a success, that it is commonly referred to as the "Jesus Phone".

I think they did a very good job in the design of the phone, missing a few things I would have liked, but all I can say is "Jesus 2.0 ROCK ON!!"

Considering you could google "unlock iphone" and end up on http://iphone.unlock.no and unlock your phone using their simple and easy to use software, I don't think it will make much difference to the new version. It'll get hacked very shortly after release, as with any software masses of people wish to use.

Yes, I am aware that there are ways to unlock the phone. However, certain countries, like Italy for example, have a factory unlocked iPhone for sale. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to worry about bricking your phone, voiding your warranty, etc. etc. by just having it unlocked in the first place? Network locking is a stupid practice, IMHO.

You may call it that if you like, although the price of the phone will crucify you Just remember that (cr)apple always pirate and copy ideas (like they did with the GUI and Xerox) so I'll stick with my God Phone (N82) - it is the original after all from the people that made the digital cellphone happen.
