iPhone out 20 July

Chatting with my friend in UK who's in the cell phones retail business, he rekons that the max price for iphone applies to both contract and prepaid, since in Apple's eyes your phone is worthless if it's network locked to the operator in your country. Don't know how true this is.....

Vodacom offer an unlimited data plan on Blackberries in SA. Not sure if any of them are 3G, but they do have EDGE if I'm not mistaken. Either way it's unlimited...

Yes, that price is with a contract.

From the apple site: "# Requires new 2-year AT&T rate plan, sold separately." In other words, there's no such thing as a $199 iPhone. Plans start at $59.99, so you're looking at a minimum outlay of $1638.76 plus tax over two years.

That is a different package - that was for push mail only which is not considered part of the data package. So yes, they can sell the iPhone on a similar package to the BlackBerry, where your push data is "free" but you cough up for the normal data transfers (browsing, etc)

The r69 Blackberry service for blackberry devices includes browsing as well as email.

I'm not sure if it is something they will be able to (ok - be willing to) apply to a device like the iPhone.
 
curious to know when pricing will be available, packages etc...
