iPhone pricing speculation

I can believe those prices. Have you seen how inflated the vodashop prepaid phone prices are!? I saw my N95 8GB the other day in a vodashop for over R9k! You can buy them online from local websites easy at around R6k.

The problem with the iPhone is that because vodacom is controlling the supply, so the prices are going to stay artificially high!

I'm expecting a formal apology from you at 12 pm tonight if I am correct and if you are on the money I will do the disapearing trick in skaamte

I will certainly apologise by 12am today if that is true! and I will be dancing a happy penguin dance as I do it.

In the EU you can get the iPhone from at least 3 different service
providers per country. In SA it's just Vodakom.

When is the lunch? I think the diamond is a better buy, but, now I am intrigued ;) I can upgrade already I just don't know what to get... Will just have to wait and see what you pre-order geeks say :P

It's tonight at Vodaworld. I think they are only offering it on a new contract at the launch (at least that's what I was told). I'm not a fan of HTC. I had the tytn; The battery life was shocking. It kept freezing up. It was easily the worst phone I ever bought. And I had to pay in over R4K for it on contract.
I now use it as a paper weight.

Maybe I have just been unlucky with HTC though.

I imported my very own unlocked FarEasTone Sharp. No iPhone fan here,
although I love Macs as computers :).

Anyone at vodaworld at 12am tonight is a sad sad person...

Well, I wont make the drive to Midrand, thats for sure. But I do wish there was a live stream or something. The event starts in 30min...

3G iPhone Hype!

According to iAfrica the prepaid price of the iPhone will be R 7999.00 for the 8 GB version and R 9799.00 for the 16 GB version. iAfrica reported that this pricing came from a spokesperson at Cellucity, but was also confirmed by a Vodashop owner.

Personally I think there is a great deal of Hype around the device. Apple is a excellent marketing company.

As far as alternatives go, I am seriously looking at the Samsung SGH-i900 Omina.

Some MTN connect store retail the Omina @ R8328.00 (inc VAT) with a 8Gb Micro SD Card (Worth R750.00) = R7578.00 true value and you got a 16Gb device, with 5MP auto focus camera, GPS (Garmin) with life license.

Makes you think!

Regards

Just got an SMS from Dion Wired. 8Gig - R6389, and 16Gig - R7569. I am assuming that must be prices without the contract. No mention of contract prices.

Why would Dion Wired sms you, did they have some kind of preorder?
This seems like it could also be the price without the Sim card that you have to buy, so add R150 to those numbers.

the omnia is not so great. the sunlight legibility is really horrible. And the 'touch' aspect is not as polished as iphone. I need to know iphone prices right away

If radicool realy got a sms with mentioned prices from DWired then somebody at that chainstore is lying like hell
