iPhone pricing speculation

Cheaper...

Would it not just be cheaper to buy it overseas and ship it in? Not sure about the prices overseas. I think the i-phone can go stuff itself at those prices. I want the Google Phone!:D

This one is not network locked, making it a better option. But one can expect that Vodacom/Apple made the prepaid prices artificially high to discourage using the phone on other networks.

I wanted one but that price looks way out my price range. I would pay R5k max :(

So, what exactly can the iPhone for R9800 do that my Nokia E66 for R4000 can't? Does it cure cancer? I've even unlocked 2x 3G ones (with a UniversalSIM) and have no clue what people see in them.

I went to Dion Wired earlier today. They had an iPhone out of the box. Sales rep was playing with it.

He looked up the price on their computer system. R6499 for the 8GB. Didn't ask for the 16GB.

But at least we only have to wait a few more ours for all prices to be confirmed.

Wrong. R 5500 ballpark price. 8gig less than that and the 16 gig a bit higer. I order a 16 gig to pick-up tomorrow and the salesman tell me that is what I'm going to pay

Where from?

The manager is **** scared, tell me they can loose their licence, but I know him from previous dealings and he will not lie to me, that is also the reason why he gave me a ballpark figurethat is in the middle.

HA HA:D:D:D:D
there is no way that the 8gb will be R5500 let alone cheaper! I'm willing to bet my grandma on it.

Well I ordered one and he will have a lot of explaining to do if its a much higher more than R 5500. I personaly think it's R 5 200 for 8gig and R6 200 for 16gig. And I pass on your grandmother

If its at that price i'll by one for myself and my grandmother, no both of them.
So far the cheapest prices from reliable sources are saying, 6500 for 8gb, other sources (cellucity) are saying 8000. so id bet its between those two, im gunning for the R6500:(

R8k and R9.8k? That's a royal rip-off. Then again, this IS South Africa. I should expect nothing less.

If it turns out to be between R5k-R6k on prepaid (8GB), and it IS in fact unlocked, I may actually consider it. That is, of course, if it is actually offered on prepaid at launch time.

cb22, how the heck did you score an E66 @ R4k? I'm with you on the Nokia phones being comparable (at a cost of thousands less) - I had an E71 for a few days, but it had an overly sensitive antenna and poor reception so I returned it; Other than that, it was the best phone I have ever used.

I'm expecting a formal apology from you at 12 pm tonight if I am correct and if you are on the money I will do the disapearing trick in skaamte

who the h3ll pay that much for a phone. It get stolen , broken etc.

I was going to go through to the launch tonight. But without knowing the contract and prepaid prices it's a waste of my time.
