Hi all,

So I have an iPhone A1332 EMC 380A that was given to me for use on duty.

So that's apparently an Apple iPhone 4 for those who didn't know (correct me if I'm wrong)
Yes, it's an old phone but look, if I get robbed on duty and they steal it, I'm not going to cry about it.

The problem is, it's apparently it's locked or blocked; It says "SIM NOT SUPPORTED"

Now this can be fixed or so I'm told but I need to find someone I can trust do it - any ideas on where to take it in Cape Town where I won't be charged a stupid amount (where I might as well buy another phone?!?)

Thanks :)

my old iphone was also network blocked .said the same thing .never got it to work with a sim .

Yeah, apparently it can be fixed - they unlock it or so my 'sources' say.
You need to contact whoever has locked it. Chances are it will be an overseas company as Vodacom and MTN etc dont generally lock phones.

If you can work out who it is, then you can do an online chat with them at their website and ask them to unlock. I did it with an iphone 5 a few years ago with a UK provider and they were cool with it because the contract had expired.

Bump ?

I hear there is a tool called "In-box" that I could use to fix this problem.
Anyone wanna help me out?

I can't help with your request, but do you have to use this phone they gave you? Sounds like a massive headache to be honest. What about a super cheap android?

I have a similar problem. I have an old iPhone 5 that I gave to my domestic. I set up an e-mail address for her but I can't remember the full e-mail address, nor can I remember the password. She no longer uses the phone because she has a better one now and gave it back to me. I'm now in the unfortunate position where I have to break into my old iPhone. Is it possible to get it unlocked? I would like to install Alfred and use it as a cheapo wifi security camera.

Honestly, I know I could find something better - but why not find a way to fix it and use it till I really can't use it anymore? I like saving old stuff :)

Jailbreak it and install a carrier unlock from Cydia
