Hey guys,

Where can I urgently get my hands on an iPhone (3gs or 4)? Vodacom tells me mine is bust due to water (which is strange since I haven't had it near ANY water) and I am going to Malawi soon. I can't LIVE without my iPhone so I am going to buy a new one but it is quite urgent.

Why does it seem that the standard reply in SA when having a faulty iPhone is always "Water Damage"?

Maybe they just know NOT to tell the apple fanbois that "Apple is at fault". it's just not worth the risk.

"Water damaged" is pretty much the standard line used for ANY cellphone, that they cannot repair - I have had the same response when getting a Nokia, Sony-Erikson and also HTC fixed - they are all "water damaged"

I maintain they should open and inspect the phone in front of you.

The indicators are supposedly quite prominent. Shouldn't be too hard. I'd believe it if I saw it, as things stand, I have had two phones 'stolen' from me due to such lies.

Where could sufficient water have come from to damage the phone? Sweaty face? Jeepers. Phone should be able to handle a little ear/hand moisture.

In both circumstances I could could think of no possible way enough water could have found it's way into my phone to damage it. Hell, my 3310 of old survived a pool drop of ~2m. Lies, lies, lies.

Try Incredible Connection. They also stock iPhones.
