iPhone using a sh*t load of data!

How does the appstore app on the phone know that there are updates available? Does that not mean it's regularly checking for updates? Or will it only know of an update once you run the app? Or does it only know of updates when you sync your phone?

I noticed the only time AppStore shows you have an update is when it's opened. Other iPhone users correct me if I'm wrong.
 
I also found th Iphone heavy on data Switch of location services and use WiFi wherever posible
 
My iPhone 4 has use 250Mb of data since Friday, and I have barely used the 3G!!! 84Mb upload and 235Mb download!!! Is WiFi traffic maybe counted as 3G traffic?
 
Well it specifically says "Cellular Network Data" under the Usage section of Settings. It shouldn't count wifi in that.

So yeah iPhones are big time data hogs. Maps can use data quickly, as can browsing, email, app downloads ...
 
iDataUsage is pretty accurate. Mine has logged the same amount of data as the vodacom website has.
 
Guys, uninstall WhatsApp and see how it goes for a week - that programs has some serious issues. Personal experiance using it on a Nokia...
 
Look for and app called Firewall iP on Cydia, each program that needs a web or data connection causes the app to pop up and ask you if you want to allow the connection and for this session or all future!, Sort of like ZoneAlarm for you iPhone

Works a treat to find out what apps are hogging data!
