Good day

i seem to have run into a strange situation. My wifi i can turn on under settings, but its not connecting or finding any networks. It just shows not connected. Ive tried resetting network, factory reset, and so on, but still nothing. Should i assume its a possible hardware issue?

The weired thing though is, and this is what is confusing me, is that i used somebodys phones hotspot, searched again, and the iphone could pick it up.

However, it doesnt pick up any other wifi network.

Thanks

Under "Settings/Wi-Fi" make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on. Also make sure to select "Ask to Join Networks". Your phone will start to searh for networks. If not, it is broken.

i dont think its broken... im on the 4th floor of our building, doesnt pick up wifi. as soon as i move to the ground floor, it picks up the wifi... something else is happening, and im not exactly sure what.

but... there are other phones and iphones that are picking up the wifi. we have wifi routers on each floor, not just on the ground floor

There are different types of WIFI protocols and authentication methods -- check that the router is configured with ones supported by your iPhone, also check for any security features that could be preventing connection, for example: MAC Address filtering can prevent connections from certain device types.

iPhone 5 is plagued by weak wifi issues. Thankfully I carry around a 3GS too. My money's on that.
