ok i don't think podcasts was the cause of our ghost usage (as we didn't have the app) however i will test it last to see. i have a feeling its the icloud from what i've seen elsewhere online but time will tell.

Did you ever manage to get to the bottom of your ghost data usage?
Something new that came out yesterday is an app called Onavo Count - Data Usage manager; see which apps are using up your data plan - could be worth checking out regardless
