Ermm.. Thing is, when they shout their religous praises, they are in their own country.

America is taking these Bible verse inscribed scopes and using it to kill civilians of a foreign country.

There is a fundamental difference there, and I can't imagine Raining Men working in Afghanistan. It would be too liberal.

Are those Islamist terrorists really that concerned about dying from a bullet, shot from a gun that had Bible verses inscribed on the telescopic sights, with the trigger pulled by an infidel ?

Did you know that many in the US military go into battle with loud rock music playing, could it be said that they were on a crusade in the name of "Rock n Roll" ?

Both of which are critical of the US.
 
I don't see what the big deal is. I really have no problem with it being a crusade. It is just another name for war. And religion is just one of the reasons... but it is a reason. Clash of cultures, clash or religion, whatever. May the best man win.

Do you guys really think that having some Bible verses on a piece of hardware is really going to affect the outcome of this? Seriously?

Did you actually read the post. The bible verses where inscribed on gun sights by a company for the U.S. Army.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. George Bush believed he was THE MESSIAH, so he started a Crusade to rid the world of evil so no matter what anyone says, in his eyes he was doing gods will.
 
This company makes good sights, so it's hard to say no to their product, the founder of the company was the one who inscribed passages the army just tests and buys the best as does any other country. But if there was a crusade it's not going to be made official, crusaders are mercenary armies funded by individuals who have a religious bent, Blackwater/Xe could have a crusader ideology just as some branches in the military might but crusades are funded by individuals not the people of a country.

To say the U.S. government specifically ordered weapons with religious slogans is also stupid and deserved of the tinfoil hat.

More likely the some guy at the arms manufacturer with enough pull is religious and thought the slogans would be a nice touch.

The only problem I can see is from a political fallout or from a fallout with the public in that support of the war would cease. As it is not supposed to be an ideological war from the U.S. perspective, any endorsement of such wouldn't be too well received. If public support for the war falls, the war will probably be done.

Realistically I don't see that happening.

AFAIK Haiti is majority Christian, so how would this act be linked to a crusade?

I'm sure that none of the Haitians will be forced to own these audio Bibles, and unlike the crowd that you support, the penalty for apostasy isn't death.

US Citizens feel they were attacked by nutters who only understand the use of force and thus the pro-war stance.

Historically, when it came to both world wars Americans were anti-war until America entered the war. I guess I have to amend the statement so it doesn't look like that Americans are warmongers.

Like the war against non existent Islamic WMDs, the Islamic communists in Russia, the Islamic Vietnamese, the Islamic Japanese....

The yanks like war because it gives them a hard on and makes them feel primitively powerful, since they can use their empires of strength to squash civilians. You can compare them a bit to a pedophile or a rapist; it's not really the sex they enjoy so much as the primitive feeling of dominance over something less powerful.

But of course, you already know this :D
