I disagree that only "high-end users need more than voice and text messages": CellC has over the years tried to target the youth market, but the youth of today want & need to be connected [to the Internet], and while CellC does have EDGE [2.75G], I don't believe CellC currently has the coverage or capacity to provide the youth market with the volume of data transfer that is possible using a 3.xG network. IMO Virgin Mobile SA made a serious mistake when it chose to use CellC's 2.75G network - there is a vast demand for data, and EDGE simply is not enough to capture the attention of data customers in large numbers. But Cell C is staying positive that it will break even and double subscriber numbers by 2010. It has shifted its focus to the lower end of the market, because high-end users need more than voice and text messages: they also need high-speed internet access, and Cell C will have to invest heavily to offer that service.
HOWEVER Virgin still offers the best value for money - using Opera Mini on a Cell you can read and send a email for as little as two cents, same goes for a google search and a Wiki - now tell me there is not a market for that - people need to be able to be informed and save some money so that they can buy their kids iPods and 3K cell phones - heck they might even find out that what they want is just marketing
It seems the network was so tired that some customers could not make calls even on Monday. Cell C must solve this problem or it will lose clients, which it cannot afford to do.
CellC's nommer asseblief lady must have been tuckered out after a busy weekend. How is this possible? Do the network burn out over the weekend?![]()
