Is Compiz Fusion eye candy alone?

Its more than eyecandy... when you use it for a while with all the cool mouse gestures, and effects... you feel limited when you no longer have your system running it.
 
True true. It's like Vista without aero (then it's just a damn slow version of XP).

Got a question though. I had 64-bit running but was unable to get my Nvidia drivers running properly and thus reinstalled with 32-bit Hardy. My Nvidia drivers are fine now.However, my compiz does not work. I have installed compiz such that it should work (using the same config as I had with Gutsy32 and it worked then).
I get a glx error when trying to run compiz. Any suggestions?
 
I disabled it.. It startede to annoy me. If I wanted bells and whistles I would install vista
 
After reinstalling the nvidia-glx-new driver and trying to run compiz again, the following happened: (the out put has changed since last time, seems to be for the worse)
"$compiz --replace
Checking for Xgl: not present.
No whitelisted driver found
aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/kwin
"
 
At home I love having my apps spread over different sides of the cube: music/movies on one side, surfing on another, system stuff and file-viewer on a third. It works well for me and I miss it on XP.
