Is iburst down?

It was back up when i checked this morning before work. Hopefully it stays that way.

Who will stay with ibust (sic) after this story. I feel sorry for anyone tied in with a contract.

... let's have some alternatives then .... and I don't want to install a Telkom (sic) line either ...

Aren't there any WISP's that provide a service in your area? Hopefully none of them have any kind of iBurst backhaul or as an upstream provider........or rather as the only provider....

iBurst outage explained

I see on their facebook page..

WBS Network Outages Update:
We refer to the network outages and the confiscation of the WBS network equipment including removal of core fibre switches that took place yesterday which resulted in the disruption of services to the iBurst customers.
Negotiations between WBS and ICASA are still in process and once a resolution has been reached we will provide feedback.
iBurst would like to sincerely apologise to its valued customers for the inconvenience and assure them that we are working tirelessly to resolve and restore all affected services.

Can we sue ICASA?

I think we should. Where we live we don't have the necessary infrastructure for ASDL and 3G is expensive.

iBurst repeatedly and blatantly lied to its customer base (claiming a "power" problem, etc.) over two days. That alone should be enough to kill this incompetent, disingenous company, and I most sincerely hope it does.

iBurst have been operating illegally for years it seems. The action against them was prompted by other companies complaining about their illegal interference. Why the sympathy for them? They are the ones screwing their customers.

Please explain all these illegalities that you refer to ...

Also, since it does seem obvious that iBurst will loose alot of customers, let's get an idea of what else is out there ... providers, packages, costs, reliability, etc .... I am sure people are going to want to make informed decisions

What I said (http://www.techcentral.co.za/iburst-boss-may-face-arrest/39374/) - a court order was issued more than a month ago, which implies that iBurst was aware of this for at least 2 months and decided to keep quiet about it. I am really failing to see why companies try to cover up issues - someone will figure it out and leak the details anyway. Reputation/trust is damaged and beyond repair. Nothing wrong with issuing a statement regarding the court order or even the seizing of equipment.

The only reason why iBurst wouldn't issue a statement is because the company is dishonest and if a court-order was issued to seize equipment, one can assume that ICASA is in the right here. It's not the first time iBurst has purposely covered up issues (mass-retrenchment a few years back and potential buyout which fell through). It's quite simple - previous iBurst executives demonstrated the same lack of transparency and honesty and it's in iBursts company DNA.
