Morning All

We have a client running the IS Ignite Essentials Fibre in Houghton Johannesburg and it has been down for 3 days. IS has no idea what is wrong and all they can tell me is that it is down............well spotted after 3 days. Anyway is there anyone that has any idea what is wrong and how long it will take to repair?

I am tired of speaking to people that just make up stories and never call back.

Your provider needs to get out there with an OTDR and test the link.

If the switches and routers on your side are correct, then it is probably a cable break.

I have a fiber package with IS (although not the same as yours).Normally when the fiber goes down it s a cable break outside the premises.IS send the contractor to site.They normally plug a device into the fiber on the premises and trace it to the street

Thanks for the feedback and the offers to help. IS did finally send out technicians and it was a break 900m away from our building.

It is amazing how quickly they can resolve these faults once a technician is allocated. Just sad that it took so long and I had to resort to public forums in order to get a response / result.

Just glad all is working again.

This is literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It makes Telkom call centers look like a walk in the park.

We STRUGGLED for 5 whole months with back and forth emails and calls every day or two just to get a fixed IP for our fibre service.

Next we needed to upgrade our line speed. We signed the contract for the upgrade two and a half months ago and have been paying for it since. But we are still on our old line speed and no upgrade has taken place.

Next step is going to our lawyer and trying to get cancellation.

Are you referring to IGNITE?
 
Do they still exist?

We have an IS ignite Fiber account, but I don't see anything on their website anymore?
 
Mweb took over a few of the IGNITE products, not sure which ones though its very confusing
