Thanks tibby. Problem is you can't get an iphone on a contract. Been looking at the N82, it looks quite nice... Opinions?

N95 ... it is a phone ... a big bulky N series ... dunno where Nokia gets the phrase "multimedia computer" to describe it from.

Another without first hand experience.

Anyway if people had the neurons to understand the term multimedia then the N95 does qualify. Sound, Camera, Video, Music, Internet, GPS, Excell....To many to mention and BTW there is a CPU in there. Just look what products is available under the term Multimedia at Makro site and maybe, just maybe, you will grasp the correlation.

Anyway we know you could not afford the N95 therefore the antagonism. As usual and expected.

I agree also with the right apps installed it is a full on computer! :) I used it when My internet (ADSL) was down and I can access my computer from anywhere in the world via N95
BTW I read up an artical on the Video of the N95 it has the same qualities as an expensive Cam recorder

In all seriousness I think that at the end of the day, the individual choosing a phone for him/herself has to think of a few things irrespective of how good the phone is and what it can do, ie.

1.That the phone meets your needs...
2. You can afford it...
3. You feel happy and comfortable with the phone (I'm sure there are a lot of people who would prefer a BMW rather than ride around in their VW)

The conclusion is that advice was asked about the N95 and not other makes of phones...

The N95 topic started off whether to get it and how good a service it will suit the owner i.e.advice and explinations of 1st hand experience by people who own the N95 so that you can make up your mind about the N95

When advice is given then it is knocked! by those who probably have never held or owned a N95

The N95 is really a good phone if used correctly and not used as some sort of experimental toy! hoping that dad will get you get you a new one if you break it!

It's expensive! and can take you well into the future of phone technology! I'm not saying that other phones are no good but once again the topic was on the Nokia N95

So people giving advice on the N95 should be adhered to, into consideration as they have 1st hand experience with this type of phone!
The way things are going here you might just take up the wrong advice and land up with a cr*ppy phone you will later regret!

You will notice that my post what the first one to be knocked...and it was knocked by N95 users.

1st hand experience can be great, but if the N95 users provide a very biased view of their phone, it's useless. All I'd like to see in this thread is the N95 users saying what they like and what they dislike about the phone. Even if the aspect which they dislike is something which they knew about before buying the phone or expected anyway. This would really help Pooky make an informed decision.

I'd expect unbiased N95 users to post something like this (now don't chop my head off...this is pure speculation):

Likes:
  • Great camera
  • GPS
  • Big display
  • ...

Dislikes:
  • Pretty bulky
  • Short battery life
  • Some software bugs
  • ...

I'm sure you guys can list more.

each and every negative i can think of even if it is small i have mentioned it:

-battery life (if you use the GPS it kills the battery in about 2 hrs, but as a normal phone it lasts the entire day with the v20 upgrade battery is greatly improved
-If you upgrade your phone software and have custom themes or apps installed on the phone memory there is no way of removing them
-If a word is not in the dictionary there is no easy way of saving it in the dictionary like the SE K800i would allow
-For some reason all SMS messages show last name first and then first name in the display and no way of changing this
-MAPs turn by turn navigation is not free and you need to pay around R700 to R800 for a 2yr license
-Memory sticks only up to 2 gig will work
-In Box earphones are pretty bad, had to buy myself some aftermarket ear phones
-The paint will fade away on the phone's housing no matter how good you take care of it ... can see it beginning to fade on the phones edges but my phone is a good few months old!
-it will hang every 3 months!
-it still cant make coffee :)

I really thought adamr's post was a turn for the better in this thread, but then NoADSLyet came and ruined it again. I'm off...there's no hope for this thread any more.

Why should the mods close it, they should give NoADSLyet a one day ban from this section, if he continues, ban him again until he learns his lesson. NoADSLet, if you can't argue the merits or downfalls of the phone like an adult, please don't post. You're littering the forum with your crud again, I'm asking nicely.

bwana should delete both their posts, it's an eyesore.

Nah dude, you're not the one at fault here. Keep posting, you can just use the ignore list, trust me the info you've posted is gonna help lots of people.
