I know I used those words, but you took it out of context:Someone drank too much last night or is unable to reread what they have said... I quote you and you ask where you said this! Maybe I need to make it simpler for you and include your text in my responses like you do! Quoting does not seem to work for you.
This wasn't directed at Pooky. I just mentioned what I do when buying a phone.Athlon64 said:I buy the best phone... ...which fits into my budget.
We're talking about a cellphone here. Not a computer. And technology doesn't move forward when a bug is fixed. It just gets to the place it should have been in the first place. 12 versions....20 versions.... whatever (there are probably 20 versions anyway - they just weren't all publicly released).... that's a lot for a phone which is 1 year old.Athlon64 said:Microsoft (as an example) is constantly releasing patches and fixes... it's what software companies do! No software is released as a final version immediately. There are always fixes, patches, upgrades... it's the way technology works. It does not stand still. It needs to move forward. If some companies release inferior software and never update it, then so be it... i prefer one that moves forward. And for your information Nokia have not released 20 versions... the previous release was V12. Obviously they made enhancements behind the scenes.
Note the general statement (not necessarily directed at you):And I did not pay R7000, I inherited the phone so that blows your argument of justifying my investment out the water. Never draw conclusions in an argument without facts (as you tried to tell me, even though in my case I was quoting you!). My opinion is based on the use of a free phone so if i didn't like it i could easily say so and go back to using my old phone... no loss to me.
Note the bit where I was speculating (because there's no way that I could have known how you obtained the phone):Athlon64 said:But often owners of a certain piece of hardware are so biased towards it that they'll look past any flaws just to reassure themselves that their latest R7000 investment was worth it.
It doesn't matter how you got the phone. You obviously don't want to go back to your old phone, eventhough you claim it would be no loss to you. But you clearly can't take it that someone says something "no-so-nice" about your phone.Athlon64 said:As you seem to be doing...
To be honest, I couldn't care what you said earlier. I just read the posts, gave my opinion and planned on never returning here...that is until I saw a bunch of N95 fanboys corrupting this thread with biased info.Glad to see you have read all my posts... shows commitment (and thanks for posting it here, maybe i'll get some feedback now).
It would be a good idea to make better mention of the problem though (that would help Pooky):As a result of having inherited it though I do not know what happened prior to me owning it hence me providing possibilities in my previous thread as to the screen issue and not jumping to conclusions. To advise someone to steer clear of the N95 based purely on the fact that I am having a screen issue as a result of unknown causes seems irrational. How would this help Pooky? My opinion was based on the knowns, not unknowns.
I wouldn't call that problem "little".Just a little screen issue now
For one, your phone's serious screen problem.By the way you do the whole "apparently" thing again in this last reponse... "they'll look past any flaws". We have still not established exactly what these flaws are but you keep referring to them.
No mate. Nothing wrong with the app. It works perfectly on other Nokia S60 3rd edition phones. There were a bunch of problems when installing java apps. Particularly with unsigned applications. The odd java application doing "funky things" may well be down to a corrupt application or the actual programme itself being dodge. Is this a reason to steer clear of the phone?
I disagree. Either you can't follow my arguments or you choose not to because of your biased view of things. You know what I am going to give up with you. Your arguments go in circles and lead no where.
When last have you heard of a phone which has had so many firmware releases? (maybe the N70 or 6600...but they fall into the disastrous category)You show your limited understanding with one comment - "We're talking about a cellphone here. Not a computer."
Please don't draw conclusions based on absolutely nothing. You clearly still use your cellphone merely to make calls and send sms's.
That's really beside the point. The future is an all encompassing device which does it all....
Which improvements where included with the latest firmware update for your phone? The cutting edge of technology is always going to have room for improvement. There is no final destination, but always rooms to improve. FYI, not only bugs are fixed with the updates....
As I have mentioned earlier in this thread, I am happy with my phone but I realise that it isn't as powerful than the N95 - after all, it costs half of what the N95 does! Apart from that, this thread was never about N95 vs K810i. I'm really happy for you that you like your phone. Just don't let that make you play down the problems which you have with your phone. You live with you dormant phone, I'll stick with my ever evolving device!
Thanks Lancelot, very informative. The only reason I'm leaning toward the Touch is that it looks very nive and has a touch screen. Take those two facts out of the equation and I would go for the N95. The thing I'm concerned about mostly considering the N95, are the looks and size and weight. Apparently it is quite bulky.
I disagree. Either you can't follow my arguments or you choose not to because of your biased view of things
Well...not the Touch anyway. It's apparently pretty slow because of its 200MHz CPU (compared with the TyTN II which has a 400MHz CPU).The HTC seems to not have any supporters!
I repeat:You fart with your mouth open.
I loaded three new releases not because of problems but I am a firmware Upgrade fanatic. The releases mostly were based around improving the GPS functions. I can load the original firmware and still will have no problems.
Athlon64 said:lol...I always find it funny when people get upset when someone says something "nasty" about their latest expensive gadget. I'm really happy for you that you like your N95. I just thought Pooky might want to know some of the stuff which the average overly positive N95 user (such as yourself) won't mention.
My phone is decent, but again it seems you aren't following me at all. This was never a N95 vs K810i thing...Go get a decent phone for some experience or ask dad. Maybe he knows better.
Within the app itself...maybe (not if it works perfectly on other Nokia S60 3rd edition phones though). You shouldn't have problems when installing apps though - that's usually the result of firmware bugs.BTW If you load all kind of crappy downloaded Java Applications on any phone you are bound to pick up problems. Use the phone as supplied and you will have no issues. Only load software you need after some research.
Thats just the problem. You are assuming we have problems. Must have a crystal ball Head on top there. READ MY LIPS!I suppose it's pretty pointless to continue this argument. You guys can't provide an objective view of your phone because you couldn't imagine saying that there are problems with your R7000 investment. I hope I didn't make any of you guys cry when I said such horrible stuff about your phones..........
Guys... Quit arguing, sort out your differences somewhere else. All I wanted was indeed peoples OPINIONS on which phone would be more suitable. The N95 or the Touch. I'm all for reccomending other phones as well, but please stop arguing about trivial matters.
Yes it would be preferable to have an objective view. Thank you both Athlon64 and LancelotSA for your initial info. Stop arguing please.
Sorry. I should have worded that a bit differently. Essentially what I'm getting at is that you shouldn't attack someone who posted info which you can't verify yourself. Just because you haven't come across a problem (or chose to ignore it), doesn't mean that problems don't exist. I just provided my opinion. This is great because it indicates to Pooky that all might not be rosy in N95 land and that he/she should maybe do a bit more reading on the internet to see if the things he/she plans on using give problems.Thats just the problem. I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH TWO N'95's I NEVER REALLY HEARD OF ANY MAJOR PROBLEM TILL YESTERDAY ON MyADSL, about a screen failing, SO PLEASE EXPLAIN WHERE IS THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING BRIGHT BOY. LOL What a joker. He does not own the phone but act an expert! Geesh
I am running Route66, GArmin, Rotate me, The ball job and a few others. I installed one APP which would not work and deleted it. No problem. the phone does what I need it for. If you want to play games on it buy an PSP.
Yeah I agree so start by posting links to all this problems you know so much about then Pooky can check and decide for himself. I only gave my opinion out of first hand experience on two n95's. DittoSorry. I should have worded that a bit differently. Essentially what I'm getting at is that you shouldn't attack someone who posted info which you can't verify yourself. Also, I don't play games. You get many Java apps which aren't games.
Now please stop this stupid argument. Let's help Pooky.
Well...considering that I didn't find out about this on the internet, I have no links. Google is quite a useful tool though.....Yeah I agree so start by posting links to all this problems you know so much about then Pooky can check and decide for himself.
