LDs did nothing. The virus speed just continued on its merry way following its own time plan.
So how come the case load decreased ?

C19 is seasonal, like the 'flu. Why? Because the immune system relies on vitamin D. In summer, the sun is strong, the air is warm, people spend time outside with the sun on their skin. As soon as a cold snap hits, people put lots of clothes on and shut themselves indoors by a heater. This quickly leads to vitamin D deficiency, immune system stops working so well, they get sick with whatever is going around.
Soooo... cold front hits SA, a few weeks later, like MAGIC, C19 is back.
People only understand , when they lose people they know or possibly a family member. then they realise... hey this virus is real and it's affecting them personally.
Hospitals are folding like a bad poker hand. Medical staff working almost 24/7, the medications are running dry. Bed shortage and Oxygen is not abundantScrap em al, its too late too late, the entire stable has bolted.

They might not have a choice, other than hard lockdown to save lives.
I know, no one wants to curb any Business or employee's from going to work , earning moneys and a living. Yet, this virus is spreading from person to person on contact with employee's, friends, family, malls, smaller shops, pharmacy's etc.
It might be 5% or 10% that is going to Malls and chilling there for hours, visiting friends having braai's with 10-15 people at the house, people visiting multiple family members. The more places people go, the exposure or possible exposure to the virus chances just increases. It also makes it hard to track, as they have visited maybe 2 brothers, an uncle, 3 buddy's and 6 employee's within 3-4days.
vs Hard lockdown is only people at work. Only essential workers @ work. Most people working from home anyway. Shopping or pharmacy is then just quick 15-20min trip and back home to stay indoors.

I've personally know 3 people that had the vaccine too.. and all 3 got sick.. all 3 ended up in hospital. All 3 ended up in ICU. All 3 on ventilator. All 3 died.
2 was J&J , 1 was pfizer vaccine
I think these Vaccines just makes it that less people end up in hospital... but no guarantees.
I would say, if someone has the vaccine. They must still keep doing what we all do.. keep safe distances, wear mask and sanitize often. No visit too many people or work areas if it's not required (limit what you can)
I think Level4 or possibly 5 needed for Gauteng. Maybe level 4 for CPT. Possibly KZN.
We want to assist medical environment and give them time to vaccinate more people...replenish the meds, beds and oxygen.

At current speed we may reach 70% in 2025
Lockdown might save a few lives now
But it is killing the economy already and further lockdown may save a few from Covid
Where our murder rate will just shoot up massively after lockdown ends and then kill massive amount of people
But do not worry our government will save you
By making sure that you cannot drink while you have covid
And by the way if the vacine is worthless then lockdown should have ended last year
Because then we would have to stay in lockdown for next 5 to 10 years
Because this virus is not leaving on its own anytime soon
And we are then just prolonging the suffering

unless you job requires physically to be there.. like a healthworker or Shop Sales, Pharmacy or Electrician or Plumber or Mechanic. Those type of jobs require physically to be there.
But most technical work can work remotely from home, finance people can use teams or video conference and digital file sharing, Call-centre company's like insurance places and Helpdesks can have phones diverted, IT people obviously using VPN and Teamviewer to assist users remotely, Even some sales people working remotely and advertising online and only go to physical location when say a Vehicle or item is to be viewed or picked up.
A few of my family members also need to be physically at work, but even with them. They arrange to be onsite only when needed , say if some paperwork needs signatures or they need to quickly meetup regarding a project. The rest they try to do emailing and telephony.
Many ways to try and keep safe.

How do you mine platinum/coal/gold etc from home ? Fix a car, build a house etc ... There's more people out there DOING work than those parked at home with a cat on the lap stroking a mouse.

Like i said.. not all can work from home. but then again... not all those jobs are essential. Remember Lvl5 is essential only. So those people won't be working that time. They will be at home. Only Food shops, Car repair shops and mechanics , Pharmacy and Doctors/Hospitals
