IS News Server down?

Ok so apart from those who can only afford a 30GB local only account, this should help us determine (more or less) what's cached or not right? Sounds great, I'd be glad to help out where I can.

I'm busy coding something now. Ill been done quite soon. Keep the ideas coming and ill build them in.

yeah should be made so only South Africans can use it-that way we can see how many times its been downloaded and thus decide whether its cached

Well, should just upload the nzb when you have fully completed the download...

I would suggest going one step beyond that and making it accessible only from an ip in the IS range. There is little point in a saix user uploading a nzb for a file they downloaded from an international server.

That wouldn't quite work if it's hosted on an international server ;)

Remember a lot of us use prepaid WA (SAIX) to get international.

What I would suggest for the site is this:
*Upload and downloading of nzb's (obviously)
*Naming of the uploads
*Some sort of category system
*A feedback system that allows the user to either leave comments or a rating system. That way we can determine whether our efforts are going to waste.
*Files HAVE to be limited to nzb's (also obvious)
*Maybe a sign up system at a later stage

speed that the person who uploaded the file got, allow people who then also download that file to say whether they have achieved better speeds due to caching...?

ok, not to sound as dumb as telk0m or some thing, but what is the news server every 1 is talking about? :p

850GiG HDD -> is this for show or where do you get stuff to fill 850gigs?

Let me put it simply, Usenet / nntp / news servers are the gateway to filling that hard drive with :
zero need for uploading
.nzbs used instead of .torrent files
use a news client instead of a torrent client
everything is available from xxx, anime, movies, apps, music, you name it, its there
most files actually are available on usenet before they hit the torrent market

850GiG

Hey ziglet.. its for show... but thats what my little machine is running.. im struggerling to find some thing to delete on my 320GiG, 115mb's free there is not cool, movies and games and software.. erm.. every thing and anything to fill it up! haha..

PS: thanks 4 the info on the "News Server"

Hard Drive's

Well, im sure we would all LOVE HUGE hard drives... but we all make do with what we have, if you only got a 20gig, you can only have 20gigs of stuff.. and if you got a 200gig, then u can only have 200gigs.. money is tight some times... :(

but you know how it goes, you want a bigger hard drive, you go out and buy another 320gig, and think how on earth u ever going to fill it up! and just after a month, u looking for some thing to delete to stop windows from telling u there is under 200mb's free... i gave up looking 4 sum thing to delete, and just looked for the windows thingy to stop warning me about my hard drive space!

lol.....i havent filled up my hdds yet...had computer from like um....april......but im getting close only 45gigs left!
