Been getting next to nothing speeds on all my torrents. Local and international. Theory is that IS is shaping their traffic. The news server also seems to be going up and down. Is IS having network problems? Whats going on here?

Hi Slip, I'm also having the same problem.
I go thru WebAfrica which I'm assuming also goes through IS.
Can someone please let 'us' know what is going on!

Same here on local only ADSL account from WebAfrica. Anyone with uncapped have this problem?

Think we should flood IS with complaints

Lets hope they fix it ASAP - Why do we always get done in here is SA!!!!!

There is no free dome here anymore - everything is shaped & capped - it's like China - won't be long & we will only be allowed to visit SA sites, We need to do what they do in Nigeria - If they get ripped off they burn the Mobile towers down!! maybe if we did that to Telkom they would, comply with ICASA & the ruling about shaping & no capping on local traffic, it's only been a year!!!!

ICASA you SUX

I e-mailed WebAfrica and they just replied with:

Unfortunately us nor Openweb can control the speed of downloads... The speed is determined by Telkom and quality of the line. Could you please do trace routes to the sites you are downloading from, so we can see where the problem lies.

Please let us know should you have any additional queries or if we may be of any further assistance.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So who to blame?!?

LOLZ! Something needs to be done! I hope Neotel will be a WAY better telecoms than IS or Telkom.

ICASA and Telkom have the same interests so no use even complaining to them...

It is definatly not a telkom issue my SAIX account still works perfectly. Any formal comment from IS yet?

Minor Degradation of Local IS Backbone Access Service,Rosebank and Cape Town:

We are experiencing the following service event:

AFFECTED SERVICES: Local IS Backbone Access AFFECTED POPS: Rosebank, Cape Town GRADE OF SERVICE IMPACT: Minor Degradation SERVICE IMPACT: Increased latency CAUSE OF EVENT: Telco circuit errors
TIME: 6-3-07 08h51
OUR REF: N/A
CURRENT STATUS: Investigating
ATTENDING: Telkom engineers

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
One of two circuits running errors.

Minor degradation? BS.

All p2p protocals on IS have degraded to being virtually unusable. Other protocols are a1okay. Can download full speed on HTTP.

This is traffic shaping.

When you've purchased an uncapped account in good faith and are suddenly subjected to heavy shaping it becomes tantamount to fraud.

It may not be Openweb or WebAfrica that are to blame, but they should be the first in line to IS to find out wtf is going on.

Exactly! Shaping local p2p will kill most of IS' local only revenue...They better fix it and ASAP!

yup - Openweb - not getting anything better than 5kbs local and international!.
Web pages takes long to open including MyADSL, often time out. This is not a new problem, this has been getting steadily worse since December!!!.

ya well no fine :(

same thing here, WA local account and news goes - timeout-bumpy-yoyo
the last 12 months has seen news degrade from flatlining telco linespeed down to this.
I sure do hope its a busted IS circuit..................Neotel .../me googles

Hey Friends

I am currently working with IS to resolve this matter.

I will keep this thread updated.

Thank-you for your patience.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Hopefully it is not a permanent thing. Doubt I'll keep my IS account if they start shaping as a rule.

News server runs like a rollercoaster from hell. 20-30kb per sec for 10seconds.. then 0kb per sec for 20seconds. *like a drop of a anvil*

Torrents run very poorly aswell.

*Capetown area*
