Is there a "good" uncapped provider?

I think you may be misinterpreting what was said in this regard. The bypassing of shaping has a direct impact on the bandwidth available for shaped traffic as it creates a false impression of the amount of high priority traffic in use. I can assure you that there are many more customers than these thirty who are bypassing shaping rules to some extent.
This is something we are working on both from a point of view of constantly improving the reporting that we use to detect this behaviour and updating the traffic managers to recognise the services being used.

We were told that the shaping is high
because users were abusing a limited
amount of capacity.

Now that MWEB have addressed the abuse
problem, customers are still getting shaped
to hell. The excuse now is that there isn't
enough IPC bandwidth.

We can see a pattern to this.

I think GingerBeer is referring to my original explanation regarding how the shaping works and the impact that shaping bypassing has on the available bandwidth for shaped protocols. I certainly don't recall giving the impression that addressing bypassing issues would be a 'silver bullet' that would make shaping disappear. The amount of bandwidth on any network is finite and certain types of traffic will always be given lower priority to meet the demands of high priority usage.
This is going to fluctuate according to how much bandwidth is available overall and the constraints in terms of provisioning additional IPC bandwidth is also certainly not a new factor that we have introduced into the conversation.
Telkom's network freeze during the World Cup was well publicized and it did unfortunately delay the timeline we would have liked to follow in terms of increasing network capacity. We are not the only ISP affected by this and it's something that was discussed in articles on this site quite recently.
Also, to be fair, I think I've made it quite clear that we have not 'addressed' shaping bypassing, adressing this issue will be an ongoing process of both detection and network improvement as indicated in my previous response.

I'm not entirely sure of what your argument
is today. Are you trying to plug MWEB again
or are you talking about uncapped in general?

The criticism that MWEB is getting is deserved.
If they can't take criticism, then they shouldn't
be in business.

What I don't want to see is a lot of hype about
'freeing' the web with some fake people driving
it on the forums and FB, without the substance.

If MWEB or any ISP advertises unlimited internet,
then they should provide it and not create or hide
behind terms.

There are companies that are more honest about
what customers could expect like what they
consider over-use and what will happen if they
go over the boundaries.

Exactly. MWEB continues to lie about 'uncapped' because it is works. It is a very basic marketing idea and the majority of people jump on it as soon as it's seen on TV or internet. Humans lie to get what they want, MWEB is no different. F***.

CAn anyone write/spell/say SPINDOCTOR?

Has MWEB actually said when the IPC upgrades would be complete?

Qwikslver at this point sometime in September is the most accurate answer I can give you. There are a lot of factors involved in terms of exactly when the bandwidth can be provisioned and we are very much dependent on Telkom here. As soon as I have more detail I will share it.

Kind Regards
