There's a difference between going bungee jumping or smoking and increasing your risk of getting cancer which you're stuck with for life. Both increase your risk of death but if the options and risks were clear, people would always choose the bungee jumping.
But those risks and options are not always clear and this goes for the myriad of other things we do that can cause cancer. Even then people tend to just ignore the risk and do it anyway.

The list I posted earlier has all the things that are already known to cause cancer. There are other lists which has things which possibly lead to cancer but we're not sure yet.

There is moderation in everything sure, but that's like saying to oneself 'how much bacteria infested water can I drink before I get diarrhea?'

So you are saying people would choose bungee jumping over smoking?
No, he’s saying there’s a difference partaking in something that’s harmful vs harmless vs less harmful vs unknown.

I get what he is saying and I am saying that people will take risks even if they know the outcome might not be favourable. Cigarettes were punted as good by doctors decades ago and now the risks are known and yet people still smoke.

A bit out of context in comparison with vaping or smoking. Certain pleasure is derived from smoking (or rather let's say a craving is satisfied).

Thing that really gets me is that smoking still kills more people through heart disease than cancer (and is the number one killer in most developed countries), yet cancer is number one when it comes to scare tactics for some reason.
