Hi there.

I have this issue with an isp. I made a post already before about this. First of my router is an asus rt-ac86u with custom merlin firmware.

Now my issue is whenever I have this particular isp connected I get lag in games. I've tried 3 other isp accounts and works 100% fine. I also tried connecting directly to the Openserve ont and still same issue with same isp.

The isp keeps blaming my router, LAN cable, PC, game config heck the one guy actually ask me if I looked at youtube videos how to eliminate packet loss.

how can they still blame my equipment that is faulty? They then told me that I'm unwilling to test another pc or router as if I just have money laying around to quickly go buy another gaming pc or router to test.

They then also told me they will send me a mikrotik router that is properly configured? so they say I don't know how to configure a router when I told them I work in it and have done many configs for about 10 year+

I would say if you sure its not your equipment, and a deeper fault than don't be so precious its not going to cost you anything and if its the same than you can say see it wasn't my equipment.
Then you will have hard proof and you don't have use your money.

Are you sure there are no QoS settings on the Merlin firmware that could be contributing to this

no nothing as I don't even use qos enable. Like I said exact same issue when I bypass the router and connect directly to the ont.

Still doesn't explain why they still blame my equipment when I have tested directly via ont.

Please do tell the ISP we would love to know please

Just for research it's good to know the flaws of some isps and helps others on their decisions on who to choose no matter how small it is mybroadband does not shield any isp, criticism and complaints are more than welcomed. Who knows maybe your isp is lurking on here and would hastily sort you out but how would they know

ok it's websquad. thye keep blaming my router still to this date. I even have conversations as proof.

Since they offered to send you a preconfigured MikroTik, why not take them up on the offer and work from there. If it’s a line or FNO issue it will come up again which absolves your equipment
feels like theres a kick is this a free router or is it something theyll ask in return? will deliver it for free aswell? @nelis if yes than take up the offer but it doesnt seem like equipment problems if other networks work correctly

no it's just a one time thing. then they will come fetch it

bleh the choice is yours probs gonna be a waste of time
I know it will be a waste of time just like it was a waste of time connecting straight to the ont. Why do it and still blame my network? They will test via mikrotik router and still blame my asus router

I have similar issues with WebSquad and battling with IPTV and even Showmax lately, connection with intermittent packet loss to EU and US. According to @websquadza they say my line is fine but I am not getting the speed I am paying for as well as connection issued mentioned above.

Bro exposed him lmao :ROFL: @websquadza any thoughts on this problem?

As per our chat with OP, we're not blaming his router or PC - we asked that every part of the chain be investigated, which OP refuses to do. The issue here is quite simple and the facts are being mis-represented by OP to a large extent:
1. OP complained about Gaming "LAG"
2. It was established LAG exists for him including significant rubber banding in game, even though his PC reports 0-0.008% loss. For local games, this should be insignificant. This kind of rubber banding is usually the result of packet processing issues, not a ISP issue.
3. We've actively engaged OP in a 11 page private chat, running various tests, and getting results that point to packet processing issues (packet out of order - though this should not be a major issue seeing as games are UDP). Ironically these PCAP results are obtained from OP's router. No PCAP results are possible without the router as these interfere with gameplay. So yes, we have reason to want to test another router, even if the client connected directly to the ONT. Router network stacks and windows PC network stacks are very different.
4. We have not once "blamed" OP's router or PC. The fact is, OP is the only user on our network experiencing this issue. We hand over to Openserve at an NNI, and multiple other FNOs in a similar manner. Our network won't "LAG" one user and leave everyone else alone. So at this point, while we go through the motion of eliminating everything, SOP would be to also investigate the client's local hardware - especially if the issue is specific to OP.
5. We provided OP with credentials for two other ISPs, the issue, according to him, existed on those ISP networks too
6. OP obtained credentials for two other ISPs, according to OP those were clear - so that's 3 ISPs with the issue, 3 ISPs without.
7. It's. clear there's something weird going on, we have been engaging Openserve for more feedback, which is slow and not really forthcoming. Openserve's Centurion network is known to have odd niggles.
8. OP's issue is fairly unique. We've given OP the opportunity to try a test router which will 1) give us more insight into his line from his side (at the moment we're blind to his side of the line) and 2) just assist further with our investigation.

Do you have an open ticket I can look at? Showmax is locally peered, and I'm watching Showmax right now without issues. If something locally peered gives you issues, it's usually line related.
