ISP Praise Wall !!!

Just switched to Cybersmart. Cheapest service around IMHO, the techie was very helpful, knew exactly what I was talking about and I received an e-mail with very specific settings to setup my router. None of this overly user-friendly nonsense from ISP's like Mweb. Whole process < 5 minutes. Great service thus far!

Well unless i'm wrong but a 3/20GB telkom account with line rental is R258. Thats R1 cheaper than cybersmart. And if you read cybersmart's terms and conditions you would see why they cheap. (There 1GB one price adsl is R30 cheaper though - but does it come with local? i really dont know)

edit: sorry i actually should not have posted here. its the praise wall. I'm glad you got good service though. That is something that telkom might not give you. <5 mins is really great turn over time.

Ok since the last message might've been off topic i decided to somewhat contribute. All the ISP's seem to have upped their game in terms of service. I think they've realised that its not all about how low you can go but rather how happy you can make the customer.

I've used Telkom, Axxess, Webafrica, Mweb (when it was free local) and they have all been satisfactory. Axxess and Webafrica seem to be a step above the others though.

Cybersmart -
Cheapest.
Brilliant Service.
Flexible.
Very happy with them.

Big Credit to GConnect. I Logged a problem and the guy phoned me back. I wasn't at my pc at the time so we arranged another time to phone back. No one called. I wasn't overly surprised, I'd be rich if I had a penny every time telkom didn't get back to me. Then today, out of the blue, a manager called to say he picked up that no one called me back and he would personally ensure that someone gets back to me at an appropriate time. I was flabbergasted! Real Customer service, in South Africa? I really hope they keep it up. Now if they could just sort out their technical service - the login procedure sucks IMO.

Well AXXESS are GREAT in my view!

I was one of their first clients and remember that they had no support over weekends! Today they are on the ball, growing madly and a force to be reccond with!

I had a problem with my uncapped account and line speed of 12k/s on it!
They had IS try to get a solution to no avail, so I am back to my basic DSL packages at 32k/s...There was no hassle with them..they gave me 1 month free for the terrible inconvenience and were very helpful and polite throughout!

Viva Axxess!

And Afrihost Wins the race by a Landslide!

They have started THE revolution!

Afrihost

Signed up this afternoon (with the masses) and all running smoothly. Suddenly I have speed again and pages load quickly.

Afrihost really is doing something real for a change - action when others make promises and talk about better whatever, yet nothing happens

I've only experienced good things with Afrihost since signing up for pre-paid and monthly 3GB accounts. Keep it up!

+1

I like all the updates we get about bandwidth use. I even got an sms saying I'd used 75% of my cap or whatever :)

Axxess DSL

I have been on ADSL since Feb last year. Initially I went with Telkom Internet but canceled within 2 months. Did some research and decided to go with Axxess. I was absolutely blown-away by their service. I use my account mainly for downloads and for gaming. On both ends I get really good speeds. Top-Ups are quick and easy. They are the easiest people to deal with.

Been reading through this thread and read about Afri-host. I am quite impressed with their pricing. But I am a bit worried about my speeds and reliability. Who do you recommend between Axxess and Afrihost? Please be brutally honest.

Does Afrihost allow P2P and torrent downloads?

Yes. I've been heavily (ab)using my new Afrihost 10GB while waiting for my WA trial account (which I'm busy with currently), and in my experience it works like a charm.
And with that said, I can happily add congratulations to Afrihost on a job well done.

AfriHost are great and it was a painless sign-up!
