ISP Praise Wall !!!

OpenWeb are excellent! Paid via card online and got instant activation. Download speed compared to MWeb is fantastic. One very happy new OpenWeb subscriber here.
 
Not an ADSL praise... hosting related.

I moved from WA to Afrihost this week after a lot of reliability issues (also the support staff have been less than useless in helping us sort stuff out - still waiting for an email from WA support management (4 days and counting), but i'm drifting off topic). It's quite a complicated setup (not the normal hosting requirements) and Afrihost support has bent over backwards for 1 little customer. A huge thanks to the support staff at Afrihost for taking a LOT of time to sort out a small client (small at this stage).

Gillian deserves a special mention here, but the whole team has been pretty damn fantastic.

Gian, you have a good support team that for the most part seems motivated to sort out customer problems. Very happy right now.

Adsl kept synching and dropping on all day. called helpdesk. (sadly cant remember dudes name) he logged it with telkom. telkom techie was there the next day. (UNDER 24hrs later)
keep that up and you gonna win the olympics i reckon

I have the same problem, but is has not been resorted (more than 5 months now)
Try 1: Made Telkom case, they closed the case the same day without my knowledge (I only found this out a week later)
Try 2: Made another Telkom case, they change something on the DSLAM, still no change
Try 3: Made another Telkom case, techie came out - "found nothing wrong"

I still can't play games because the line keeps re-synching the whole time and drops in games.

NEXUS ISP so far so good..... uncapped 384k, line speed is decent and stable torrents are slowish as expected with a 384 k line.......:erm:
even when im downloading torrents I can surf multiple sites, it is a shaped/unshaped service, you have 5 levels of shaping and are throttled when you are in the top 20 % of usage over a 10 day rolling window, im on level 3 now and have downloaded just over 4gigs....
will see what happens when im on level 5 of shaping and will let y'all know

my router gets super hot though I could probably fry an egg on it :wtf:

I love it, the call centre staff are clued up and the packages are cheap as chips. Also the Add-On packages that you can buy like the Giggy-Bank that rolls over your cap is awesome.

Cybersmart is just awesome.

Big ShoutOut to Axxess!! I've been with them for 5months now and absolutely loving the R19/gb unshaped lite deal.

On Friday (26th Nov) I called Axxess to query why my account was not credited with the gb's i had just bought; they then explained that since my last session hadn't closed (wednesday) I had been given an extra 6gb and now I would have to purchase gb's to get back to into +positive. I then explained that it wasnt my fault that they had'nt prompted me about the extra gb's and I wasnt aware the session continued. Without any hesitation, the operations manager took responsibility and said they would "open" my account again and I would be credit with my purchased gb's (3gb) but to my surprise when I logged onto my control panel was to notice they had given me an extra 7gb's making it 10gb for the price of 3gb :D

I just want to give Afrihost a big thumbs up!
I had some trouble with a consultant which obviously didn't bother to read my support tickets, while the rest of the consultants did a great job. Afrihost later sent a SMS to ask me to rate their service and to give comments about problems etc. I just got off the phone with Afrihost, which gave more info on the problem I had experienced and asked if it's all 100% (which it was - was a telkom error) and told me that they'll talk to the consultant to improve their service. It's great seeing a company really caring about their customers and the support they deliver to the customers. Well done Afrihost!
 
I've been using "MyISP" for 7 months now on a 384k uncapped and shaped at R159 a month. Have downloaded about 318GB thats 45GB a months with the max thus far at 66GB in November. I've never had a warning from them, unlike Afrihost. Customer service is very good. Would really recommend them www.myisp.co.za
 
Hi. What are you paying for additionally? How much is the line rental? Do you have a wifi router? Sorry for all da questions - wanna run away from vodacom broadband ripp off

well for obvious reason that mostly this section sees the light of what went wrong, how bad it was and how angry we are - nothing wrong with laying down your complaint, but its necessary to also give praise to that isp and the person(s) involved whom have sorted, helped or done something for you which was above average and made you pause and say wow they rock !
