Israel's war on the Arabic language

Just doing some research on the subject. Who here is aware (and I'm looking in particular at those accusing Jews of racism) knew that Arabs make up less than 5% of the population of Tel Aviv the city ignoring a court order to include Arabic on signs? One city not wanting to go to the expense of replacing signs with ones including Arabic in defiance of a stupid concourt order pandering to 4.2% of the population, the majority of whom can probably read Hebrew or English, is an Israeli war on Arabic?

It's becoming more and more apparent that anti-Semitism isn't as fringe outside of the ME as I thought.

The alert comes as lawyers have threatened the municipality of Tel Aviv , Israel's largest city, with a contempt of court action for failing to include Arabic on most of the city's public signs - 14 years after the Israeli supreme court ordered it to do so.

How many drops of water do you have to count before you admit its raining?

Is the city ignoring the court order evidence of rule of law or not? Should it ignore the ruling or not? Should the people who want the ruling enforced protest or not? How should those that are protesting mobilise politically to get the change they want? Should they refrain from accusing the municpality of discrimination when you yourself claim that Sephardic Jews are overlooked because of racial differences?

Last week Palestinian members of Knesset switched from Hebrew to Arabic as they gave speeches protesting at the first reading of a bill widely seen as paving the way to banning Zahalka's Balad party from the legislature. Zahalka and two other Balad MPs are currently suspended from the parliament.

If the Arab parties are "temporarily" banned from Parliament, does that look like the Israeli Arabs are getting to participate in the country's democracy or not?

At which point do they start to be able to conclude that the state of Israel is being racist? Can you please lay out what your expectations in this regard are?

Israeli courts have also ruled that in civil proceedings Arab litigants, who do not understand Hebrew, must pay for translation costs.

Would you want people to have to pay for translators in South Africa? I know I wouldn't.

Can you offer one piece of criticism of Israel, Nick, or are you by extension admitting that it's beyond reproach? Cuz clearly according to you, no one should be upset at any of these things.
