Israel's war on the Arabic language

Ya, I'm sure Israel is beyond reproach. That's why she's above criticism, eh? ;)

never once have I ever said Israel is above reproach - yes there are those that claim so - I accept that - the point that is being made is stated in my above points - if you missed it there, let me know and I'm happy to pm you with my views on it

No ... considering the context of your post.... that is exactly what you asserted
Rubbish. My comments followed a paragraph asking Nick more generally what would be required to reasonably prove that Israel is racist. My example goes to that question.

The Israeli Knesset is trying to amend a law. That law passed its first test. Is that a valid sign of concern to Israeli Arabs who fear that their political voice is being snuffed out by the 48% of Jewish Israelis who want to ethnically cleanse Israel? Yes/No.

Have you in any way addressed the contents of that law? No.

Only one person here foaming at the mouth with hyperbole atm I'm afraid.

You're right - the people foaming at the mouth to post every little bit of bad about Jews - if you can't see that, then you may need to take off your hamas green coated glasses

...

What's that got to do with the new law that passed the first hurdle?

....
What new law and what first hurdle? The thread title is "Israel's war on the Arabic language"
One city in a country dragging it's heels on implementing a ruling doth not a war make .

Did I start this thread? No.

Did I pick a fight with people engaging in denialism about the truth? Yes.

Show me one point I have made which is not a critical point to raise in regards to someone's unreasonable defence of the State of Israel.

This isn't about Jewish people at all. The fact that you keep trying to make it about Jews instead of Israelis is precisely because you have no credible defence of Israel's behaviour.

So the facts listed in the article are bogus?

I think the world does take it seriously. That's why Israel's status around the world is shifting so dramatically to pariah status.

Denials that there is a problem only works against people who don't see a problem. Once you see a problem, all the denials in the world won't make it go away.

Maybe in your mind - try looking how many companies are buying (for hundreds of millions of dollars) Israeli start-ups and technology - have a look how many european countries are buying and learning Israel's methods to counter extremist islamic terrorism... again, those hamas green coated glasses have you seeing things askew

.

And you do this by selectively quoting an example where certain MP's have disobeyed laws of parliament and been suspended for it ... then equate this to "banning" and oppression of arabic political parties ....
... alrighty then .... :wtf:

Calling him a supporter of a terrorist organisation simply because he is critical of Israel, really?

Are they though?

Or is it just more of the victim card being pulled?

The alert comes as lawyers have threatened the municipality of Tel Aviv , Israel's largest city, with a contempt of court action for failing to include Arabic on most of the city's public signs - 14 years after the Israeli supreme court ordered it to do so.

Pal, that argument has been had - the "anti-zionism" rhetoric is just a face cover of anti-semitism..

Why you may ask - Zionism is the Jewish is the desire for Jews to be able to have a homeland (yeah I'm sure there are plenty of articles written about Zionism by various anti-Israel individuals) - by denying Jews this right and calling for the destruction of Israel - one is in fact stating that Jews do not have a right to a homeland and thus we arrive at the underlying true face of so called anti-zionism - antisemitism - people can do what they want and keep up their supposed "I'm not antisemitic - just anti-zionist" stance - truth is, no matter how hard they try to show it, it is in fact an attack on Jews themselves

No, I linked to an article about the changing of Israel's laws which you started finding all sort of other crap about which has nothing to do with anything.

To wit:
Israel's parliament gave initial approval on Monday to a bill that would allow members to suspend from the legislature colleagues whom they believe have supported Israel's enemies or have acted against the state.

The proposal was strongly criticized by opposition members who said it was aimed against Israel's Arab lawmakers.

Zouheir Bahloul, an Israel-Arab legislator from the centre-left Zionist Union faction, accused the right-wing ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of "quietly stealing Arab members' right to a democratic discourse."

Rights group the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) warned "today this law is being promoted to harm the Arab MKs (Knesset members), whose statements and actions do not find favor with the political majority. Tomorrow, (it) may harm other MKs who express opposing positions to that of the ruling consensus."

Look how many supported Israel's last incursion into Gaza.

The people living inside Israel != the state of Israel.

So tell me, what is your view on the fact that certain arab members of parliament have come out and said they support the attacks against innocent Jews by arabs?

How you interpret "colleagues whom they believe have supported Israel's enemies or have acted against the state" needs context, such as the above example - when you quote it like that - sure it looks like maybe they said they support arab rights, but when you have context to the quoted statement, it suddenly takes on a whole new demeanor

Nope.

But you are absolutely correct that I stand against people attempting to create political ideologies out of racial or cultural identities. I have said many times in this thread already.

Bla bla bla.

Zionism can only be justified if you think there's something special about Jewishness. Hint: There ain't. We're all human beings, high time we started treating each other that way instead of hiding ourselves between labels of us and them.

I'm sure there are criminal charges that can be brought against such an individual, yes?

Does it? So if the ANC passed such a law and started moaning about traitors and white monopoly capital which allowed members of parliament to remove persona non grata from the NA without oversight, I should think this is "OK" and not cause for concern? :erm:

Has the media ever portrayed Israel in a good light when Israel defends against rocket attacks? I'm talking about the media the masses are exposed to ... hell, lets just look at the current wave of arab terror against Jewish civilians .. lets take a look at some of the headlines that lead with "Israeli police shoot dead arab" ... when you talk media, yeah sure Israel is always painted as the aggressor, regardless of the real facts -

but I'm talking worldwide context here, business, growth, development

The difference in reaction from world governments over the last Gaza incursion compared to the last time Israel attacked Hezbollah is clearly visible.

What would be interesting is to see who decries identity politics elsewhere (here or the US for example), but see no problem with it in Israel.
