ITT you recommend me a new TV

Not sure if this is the right place but anyways

Any recommendations or specials going around?

I've heard good things about the panny plasmas but can't seem to find any.

Don't really care about 3D, would prefer a smart TV though.

I'd say your viewing pleasure would greatly depend on the area you've got the tv in. Is there alot of light coming into the room/area, would you have glare where you're planning to place it etc etc.

General rule I have is , if its darkish and there isn't glare: Get a plasma, otherwise go for the LCD/LED ones.
(Reason I take plasma over LCD/LED is because fast-action motion like sport tend to "blur" on LCD/LED for me, plasma I can't see the blur)

Regarding make and model, I've been very happy with Samsung TVs (personally and from friends experience). I believe LG and Sony also have good quality models.

Haven't they stopped making plasma TVs?

Personally I'd go with a ByDsign or HiSense 46 inch non 3D TV. The amount that you save, you can then put into replacing the TV in 3 years time. By then, 4K TVs will be out, and your super expensive Samsung 3D LED smart TV will look rather quaint.

Also just get an Android TV stick if you want a smart TV. Or better yet, an HTPC.

Panasonic (this month) and Sony have announced they will stop making plasma TVs, but Samsung and LG will continue making them until OLED TVs have they're costs cut and become high in demand.
