iTunes 11 is released .. finally

I'm probably doing something wrong ... but I've downloaded it, erased my current library and want to start afresh.

On the old iTunes you could 'Add Folder' and 'Add File' to library ... so I'd select 'Add Folder' and all subfolders would be added too. With 11 - I only see 'Add File' ... ?

iTunes/File/Add to Library

EDIT: Should add, browse to Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music

Got it - hanks !

EDIT : I see they still have that stupid thing where it plays the music in the background while the dialogue window is open .. meaning one can't cancel the music in the background or even change it?

F7, F8 & F9 keys on your keypad will work.

Finally got around to installing it on my windows machines. Seems a lot faster. Syncing with a device also seems to be quicker.

If you're in Films/Genres, then select for example Drama, how do you select multiple icons ?

Shift click should work for batches, Command click for individual items.

If you're on WiFi, you really should select WiFi Sync in your machine and phone. Haven't plugged my phone into a machine for ages now... It all happens in the background.

Got it thanks.

Now if they could just give us back the slide to resize the icons.....

Hehehe... I got a little upset when I realized Cover Flow was gone but the more I use the info drop downs the more I like them... 'cept for that damn "In the Store" button... Spent way too much in the store this week. ;)

For some reason wifi sync is hit and miss with my third gen iPad but works fine with my first gen model. All my important stuff is synced via the iCloud anyway.

I haven't yet attempted it with the mini.

Was one of the best things about IOS5 when they introduced it. Faultless for me on my phone and second gen iPad... Waiting, waiting, waiting for the Mini. :(

I was hoping the latest iTunes would have sorted it out - at least I can initiate a wifi sync from the device.

The mini is a great little iPad. Screen is more than adequate for my needs at least. I've been reading on it this afternoon and the text is crisp.

I like to have a local backup.

Funny, I don't trust the cloud and Wi-Fi syncing and seldom use either. I find devices are speaking to each other without my prior permission. The net result seems to be a draining battery and very little in the way of successfully synced apps.

I would have liked support for flac formatted files.

But when you enable it you are giving it permission, aren't you?

Indeed, but it seems to have a mind of its own syncing whenever it deems it necessary.

I always get the impression that the job hasn't completed, and that is it resuming again at a later stage to finish off what it couldn't earlier.

I've never known mine to sync arbitrarily, only when plugged into a power source like its supposed to.

That in itself is just another nuance I don't enjoy when it come to wireless syncing.

If I'm going to plug it in to sync I might as well plug it into the Pc
