Any car is a Hi-jack risk in SA.. Well except your Picanto :D!! The only reason why you hear about all the Polo's being stolen is cause there are so many of them!!

But honestly for 80K.. I'd buy a Honda... The NC-700X and use the change for Helmet and boots :D

I'm sure that you will find any owner of any car in SA, that's had it swiped.

The bastards even swiped an Audi Quattro SWB belonging to a mate of mine - and at the time there were only TWO in the country.

No car is safe here.

If you are worried about your car being swiped or hijacked, stick to bumming lifts in taxis.

Fit smash and grab/tinting. And if you use that logic further, any hatchback you can get into the boot with 1 window smash and then just a pull of two of the relevant releases to make the back seat fold forward... ;)

The Figo engine is the old Ford Fiesta Duratec engine, not the old old Fiesta/Bantam Rocam/Zetec engine.

thought a lot about a bike lately; really do like them; they have HUGE advantages over cars;
thing is I worried about accidents with them; know its a myth, but the accident I had with a taxi, if id been on a bike,

id be 6 feet under, no question.....

also rain and equipment I might need to carry, quite hard to carry those on a bike;

option to consider, definitely, but might go for a big boy first to see how I manage;
to jump and get a proper road bike, might be a good idea after all;

good point there, definitely worth a good look; appreciate it;

@supersunbird as you drive one; what would you say wears out quickly on those? anything I should be aware of like recalls ect......

how does the fuel consumption like? especially in traffic?
whats the most common parts that need replacing? CV joints?

and maybe oom fazda can advise here, whats resale like on that? sure its better than a picanto;

also risk factor? not as stolen as VW's but still targets I suppose?

There is just no helping you.

You are one of those people who will ALWAYS make the wrong choice, no matter how many retries and/or options you are given.

Lessons we have learnt...which you'll probably ignore.

1. Don't buy on auction unless you are a mechanic.

2. Do every service on top as per the manual.

3. Take your car to the dealers when nobody can fix it and pay them the money.

4. Listen to the advice given. Don't ignore the contrarian advice given and do exactly what they say NOT to do.

5. Just pay the money. Cutting corners will always lead to drama.

arent their laws about what you can and cant carry on a bike in SA,
also we don't live in vietnam, otherwise Id have a honda super cub; or a vespa,

makes perfect sense in asia, but in SA with the crazy combis and such;
I mean I know its a myth, but one school freind of mine was parylised after being driving into the back of dump truck;

and didnt the one teeneger get brain damage after being bullied by a blue light convoy?

TBH, Id seriously consider it if I lived in a rural part of SA;
but in the middle of JHB with the mad traffic, and the taxis and the inconsiderate drivers around;
I might drive a picanto but at least im somewhat visible, if not; Ill light the rear fog lamp to make sure they see me!

It's now 3 years old.

My clutch plate (actually the springs themselves got weak) was kaput a bit quick (at 65 000km). But admittedly I put 50 000km on it in 2 years (got it with 21 000km on the clock) and 40 000km of that was forever crawling R55 and M1 and other Sandton traffic.

No other work done on it since there are no other issues.

The issue is that we're not Google that just spits out answers all day long, we're people who've applied our minds to your questions, and made the effort to offer you advice, much of which you chose to ignore, get stung, and then come back on here and ask those same people for yet more advice on how to dig yourself out of the increasingly deep hole you dug yourself into.

Yes, your questions are mostly valid. But so are our replies, and if you don't stop ignoring that advice, you'll find more and more people start ignoring your requests for advice.

100% agree with you there;

thats why next auction ill visit with a mechanic with me; ( one HUGE mistake I did here was kind of rushed with this car)
service I do religiously; at 15K no exceptions;
to take it to the dealers, yes but not for the simple stuff;
I listen intently as many people know much more than me; and I do appreciate and learn a lot from it;
paying the money, yes but I was born a cheapskate, :p
