These things happen everywhere, everyday almost 24/7. Most unreported. With the economic woes and the dumb Government(s), I am sure crimes like these will only increase as we head into 2012.
If you can afford so, please install security in your house, I am not talking about ADT. Install your own motion detector lights equipped with CCTV. Plenty of apps that also let you watch the CCTV footage on your phones no matter where you are.
Have a dog if possible and of course learn how to use a weapon because no one cares more about your own life than yourself. Simple as that.
Cant agree more.
It is sad though, to think that you need to spend. Thousands of rands and tens of hours on some kind of weapon training. Lets face it, guns are out of the question if you dont already have one. So it is down to long knives and such. So something like Russian Systema classes etc...
Then you need to spend tens of thousands on a good home security system, because the standard armed response is not adequate.
All excluding the emotional and psychological effects of the stress of living in those conditions day in and day out.
I would say that SA has one of the highest costs of living in the world. I am not talking about the price of bread, fuel, water and electricity. I am talking about comparing lifestyle to lifestyle. It is just sick how much undeclared expenses need to go to health and safety.
