K4605 & K3715 Hauwei dashboard flash

I have these two modems I would like to alter a bit.

The K4605 is now a E372. It has a VDC sim inside and I got it originally on a VDC contract. I flashed the latest E372 firmware on it. If I plug this into a PC/laptop with no previous USB modem dashboard, it wants to install the VMB dashboard.

The K3715 was a gift. It was originally obrained through another VDC contract. Yesterday I got myself a CellC pre-paid sim and I used it in this modem. I downloaded the CellC dashboard from their site and started the install. It wanted me to put the modem into the laptop (which I did), and then flashed the CellC dashboard installation file to the modem. So now when I plug this into a PC/laptop with no previous USB modem dashboard, it wants to install the CellC dashboard.

So here are a couple of cuestions:
1. What must I do to get rid of the dashboard software from these modems?
2. I want to use any modem with any simcard in my laptop without installing different dashboards. Is this possible?
3. I want to use one dashboard for all my modems (which includes ZTE modems). I am looking at MDMA and Huawei WiFI Mobile Partner. I am not sure if the Huawei WiFI Mobile Partner will accept any ZTE modems. What would you suggest?

You can flash an alternative dashboard installer to the modem's emulated CDROM (similar to flashing the firmware, but not the same).
Otherwise, disable autorun or remove the drive letter (both discussed in MDMA thread) and the dashboard installer won't bother you again.

You'll need a dashboard that works with Huawei and ZTE modems. You could use the Vodafone Mobile Broadband (VMB) dashboard and hack it to work other SIM cards.

Huawei Mobile Partner won't work with ZTE modems.

How? Is this also in the MDMA thread? I do not have programming skills. The only VDC dashboard that could take old modems as well as the K4510-z modem I have, was 10.2.302.33178RP196. Is this also hackable?

(and I even posted in that very same thread ... :o )

I still have a problem with the K3715. It prompts me everytime to install the CellC dashboard to which I click "no". After that, the dashboard gets stuck at "Mobile device detected". The connect button stays greyed out, so I can not connect to the web and clicking on the VMB icon in the taskbar helps nothing - This happens with both CellC sim and VDC sim. It used to work previously so I need to flash the VDC dashboard software cd back onto the modem. How do I do that?

1. Create dialup profile in Cell C dashboard (phone number and APN)
2. Unload other dashboards from memory. VMB icon must not be present in the taskbar.

Thanks, but I have not installed the CellC dashboard and I don't want to. The CellC sim works fine on my K4605 on the VDC dashboard. I want to flash the original "cd-setup" of the modem back onto the modem. It used to be VMB "cd-setup"
 
I think I have got it....
Opened phone and modem from the Control Panel
Saw the modem on COM 52
Selected serial and COM52 in Putty
Typed ATZ (result OK)
Typed AT^U2DIAG=256
Plugged into my PC and the autorun for CellC didn't pop up. Will test again and see what happens in my laptop

EDIT: I can get it to work nicely on Windows 7 (PC), but not Windows XP (laptop)

How did you get your K4605 modem to work with Cell C sim? I have tried with no sucess. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks

My K4605 is now a E372. And it worked. There shouldn't be an issue since the modem also uses the same frequencies as CellC. What problems do you get?
 
Probably Vodafone dashboard still present in memory. Go to the options menu and tick two options:
- Do not load at startup
- Unload from Systray on exit.
Then exit the program, other dasboard can now access modem.

It keeps saying sim is not supported. I downlaided the MDMA software and it seems ti be able to connect on that but its not a proper connection. It shows that it sends data but doesnt receive it so I cant get my emails or connect to internet. Im not sure if I'm missing something in the settjngs?

Where did you get the modem?

Do you still have Vodafone software installed and loaded in Systray?
