Kalahari.com vouchers thread

They blocked my credit card and debit card, my brother used it on his account, mom on hers and obviously me on mine. Worked a couple times and then one day just started popping up fraud notifications when paying and my orders would be cancelled immediately. Called them and explained my brother was 17 and didn't have a card, and my mom too scared to use hers online....so they used mine. They couldn't care less, and said they were closing two of the accounts and only leaving my account open, and that we must all order from the same account. They unblocked my cards after a few weeks, and after one purchase on my account the cards were blocked again. I called about 7 or 8 times the first time to get my cards unblocked, wasn't going through that again. Since then I'd rather chew a brick than deal with them. You're just a number to them. Great prices. No service....kinda like CellC.

My advice...don't use your card on more than 2 accounts...May work great on more accounts for a few purchases, but the day will come went they block them, be prepared for the nightmare that'll follow.

Thats very silly. Did the notifications come from kalahari direct? or your bank? or their payment service provider (PayU)?

Takealot has MasterPass, so that negates giving your card to the merchant.

The only reason for multiple accounts would be use of vouchers no other valid reason I can think of.

Yeah. Normally you would just setup multiple delivery addresses, if you're using the same card. So makes sense that they are trying to block credit cards being shared across multiple accounts.

and thus i agree with the above :D

I had the exact same problem. I use a service called VCPAY and you can google how it works. You create a credit card for every transaction and it has a limit so even if the CC(Credit Card) details are leaked, they can't steal any money. The name and surname on every card is exactly the same and you have to deposit money. I work for the company that owns this service and Kalahari refuses to allow them. They see the card number (The card is issued by MasterCard Online) and upfront refuse it and cancel the order. I fought from a client and a company point of view and could not get anywhere. Totally not acceptable that they cannot accept a service that is SA based and it actually clever. If the name on the card changed, then it would be dodgy, but it stays the same. The don't even send the transaction for authorization!!! That is BS. I had to actually make payment via EFT because they blocked my account.

I opened more accounts to actually test it with them on the phone and proved that they reject the CC on a brand new account on first try (New CC that is generated). Now worried who else is going to do the same as this service is free atm and they give you a % back in your account based on how much you spend.

I know that some people might have had issues with the service, but I enjoy it. Just my 2c and hatred for Kalahari.

On checkout, after payment, it pops up and says something about "There's something funky with your payment" and "we've had to cancel your order". You get an email from Kalahari stating suspected fraud, and you must contact your bank to have your cards unblocked or something like that. FNB said there was no problem whatsoever, and that's its a Kalahari thing. Cards worked perfectly everywhere else.

To top it all off, Kalahari customer service kept telling me that it was a problem with my bank and not them, until I wrote something on HelloPeter about the incident and only then someone from their side called and said it was their system blocking my card and they'd fix it, only to come back a few weeks and many calls later saying they had unblocked my card but were closing my families accounts and we must only shop on one. After about 2 purchases with my unbocked card on my account, they blocked both my cards again.

Can only do EFT. Not willing to go grey tying to unblock my cards again. Only reason I sometimes buy from them is because I have some gift vouchers linked to my account. In fact my mom had about R50 left on her account, but because they closed the account, she lost it, and they said they couldn't transfer it to another account.

I think I must be the unluckiest kalahari shopper ever! IMO, if they want to prevent cards being used on multiple accounts, do it properly. If you use it on a second account, stop the users payment and say something link "card only can be used on one account". Don't accuse me a fraud, tell me the problem is with my bank, make me go grey on the phone trying to sort out the issue, and then close other people's accounts. That's common sense. Takealot makes things easy, Kalahari likes things complicated.

im at the basket page then its delivery, then payment
but i dont see a place for the coupon in the basket page?

Not on the basket page. Add your delivery address and then go to payment. Space for voucher code will be found there.

Very strange people out there.
You say you won't miss kalahari when it's gone, you say they are absolutely useless, you say they block your cards for creating multiple accounts, YET YOU STILL COME HERE LOOKING FOR MORE VOUCHER CODES TO ABUSE... The logic with these ones is absent.

They (Fedex) delivered only half my package today... gonna have to email Kalahari and see what results. For damn sure aint gonna phone them and spend ages waiting on the phone.
