Kentucky vs KFC

I've wondered what KFC tastes like in the States, should be an interesting comparison.

Well anyway, I've vented my frustration, thanks for listening :D

Better than here ... not as oily, more crispy and totally different menu. Then again, Chick fill a in the US is about as bad as our KFC.

Had KFC the other day, it was very good. Not oily, slimy or such nasty stuff.

Just right.

KFC in Lynnwood Rd (close to the Uni).

I'm from JHB. There is no KFC that gives "kentucky" in JHB. BUT: There is a KFC that always does kentucky in Walmer, PE. Even if you only visit after 10 years. There's a diner across the road on Walmer rd. Their KFC is truly kentucky.

That is why I'm now a Chicken Licken fan.

Is the taste not based on the freshness?
I have had good and bad chicken at one store, sometimes having to wait while they prepare it(and then it's fresh) and other times getting the 'old' stuff that hey keep in the front oven.

Nope, it has a lot to do with how hot the fryer is... and how long its cooked for.

I've had stuff that has set in the front oven for awhile and its lovely and crispy, and stuff that has just been cooked and its soggy and oily and manky. Problem is, the KFC's in my area are massively inconsistent, one day its great the next its rubbish.

Lies ... it's all lies.

Making KFC at home is damn-near impossible.

You can make it better than kfc, there are some damn good southern fried chicken recipees out there. Prepping meat in yoghert/buttermilk or brine would be a good start.

If you have a pressure cooker and are not afraid of deep-frying in it, you can get damn close. Pity that none of these "KFC-Style" recipes feature the use of a pressure cooker, which is what KFC uses.

If you have the patience try putting your kfc uner the grill for a short while on a drip tray. You'll end with something very crispy and all the oil/fat in the tray.

I'm usually a bit tanked by the time the idea of KFC sounds good, so I have no patience to do anything to it other than eat it...

I stopped eating KFC after I had something like the one on the pic,
uncooked and greasy 'streewise 2'

at KFC Stromvoel Rd, Pretoria
