Oooh tried it for the first time today, My new favourite! I also think they the healthier alternative!:)

Yeah a lot healthier than deep fried, that's for sure but what about all the hormones and crap they injecting their chickens with?

They're just injecting the chickens with the secret herbs and spices while they're young.

Nothing to worry about.

yeah of course, and most men wonder why they have man boobs...

And you thought it was a problem with your mirror...

Tried one of those things but didn't enjoy it - had a somewhat artificial flavour to it - not sure what it was, but I didnt enjoy them. I'd rather have a real deep-fried chicken breast...

That is why they are been grilled as to cook off all the excess hormones.

Seriously. Trying to capture some of Nando's Market perhaps?
A grilled patty/burger would taste better than a deep fried one and to prevent it from becoming dry there is obviously a sauce applied to it.

There was a time when the old Colonel Burger was the next best thing to sliced cheese. They certainly killed that one.
Anyone remember the Colonel Burger?

Um, they are still selling something called the Colonel burger...
They are?

Well this was a Beef Patty Burger on a big round roll with seeds on it.
Inside was tomato, lettuce, gherkin (I think) and a dollop of sauce plus something else perhaps but my memory is getting to vague too remember every ingredient. Besides most of the time we were tanked up when eating them and were not looking too closely at the contents.

This link shows Singapore introducing it in 1977. I am assuming it is the same Burger?

Beef!? At KFC? Never seen it done before and wouldnt trust it if they did so today either. I recall the colonel burger being one big, deep fried chicken breast burger for as long as I can recall KFC.

Hi DJK,

Jeepers I cannot be that old that I am the only that can remember Kentucky selling Beef Burgers? :) :p
And yes I reckon you could be right about that being suspect nowadays, especially trying to make Beef Burgers halaal style.

BTTB.

Jeepers, at least I feel a little younger now after seeing MH's 33rd birthday thread and now this post - phew... I'm catching up fast though :o

I don't recall a beef burger at KFC at all. In fact I just got off the phone with my ex who is 34 and she doesnt recall them either. BTTB - you're showing your grey roots - or am I doing that for you? :p

Had a silver tinfoil wrapper with red stripes. And they were huge.
Well I was 6 years old last time I had one...

ROFL :D

I am having difficulty now recalling when KFC stopped serving Beef Burgers, but I pretty much remember one memorable time sharing a meal with some friends in Kenilworth back in 1982/3, about the time I matriculated.
We bought Beef Burgers and Chicken from Kentucky in Rosmead Avenue, Kenilworth. So that makes it a definite 25 years ago. So your ex was only about 9 at the time.

Yes. Yes.
It was wrapped like you say.
Good memory alf.:)
It was a good Burger that is all I can say. But then they strong competition from the likes of Burger King and MacMunch.
Anyone remember MacMunch in the Golden Acre in Cape Town? You could literally share a Burger between two people they were so big. MacDonalds would have looked pale in comparison.
