Kindle Paperwhite

Can't say I've had durability issues, but that's a sample size of one. Tbh I'd prefer a pouch for my Kindle over a case, so I'm still looking around for something that's perfect. I don't particularly want anything attached to my Kindle whilst I'm reading - just a safer means of storing it when I'm not.

Yeah I do on occasion like taking it out and going naked.

But I find myself laying on my side with it propped up more often than not so would always want the cover just for that.

Oh and I read with my wife sleeping next to me so the flat keeps the light off her side, which is why I got a Kindle in the first place as the iPad was killing me.

Strangely enough my previous Paperwhite I preferred a pouch but this one (11 gen) I prefer the cover (maybe because of the auto on/off feature)

A friend finally returned from the USA with my new Kindle, a really worthwhile upgrade from my 6th generation.

So now I am looking for a case ...

Any suggestions thus far ? I am thinking along the lines of the following but am concerned that (according to my understanding of the rear view of the case) the black border shown is in fact the rear of the Kindle, whereas I prefer a case that (given my habit of falling asleep whilst reading :)) encompasses the entire Kindle.

I can highly recommend the official one.

Kind of somewhat regret I didn’t go leather as I would imagine it’s a bit more soft touch than the textile one.

Not in hand but purely when putting it down I need to be very careful not to wake up the wife.

Hi all, hoping someone can help / guide me.

We brought our kids Kindle Paperwhite Kids in the UK while travelling there & are now back in SA.

Unfortunately, the Kids+ subscription can't be activated as SA isn't part of the countries available & Kindle unlimited also can't be bought for the same reason.

what's the best way to have access / buy books rather than doing it one by one through the kindle store?

I have a Kindle unlimited subscription, the SA version might have a different selection available, but not sure why you can't activate it at all.

Yeah, also have a Kindle sub here.

Selection is a bit subpar, but its just given me an opportunity to read things I probably would never normally have looked at.

Change to the US region, it’s also much cheaper. Specials often don’t apply on the SA store.

Use this address.

4299 Express Lane
Sarasota, FL 34249 USA

Have both my kids on Fire tablets with Kids+ subs and it’s almost cheaper to buy a new tablet once a year for the included Kids+ annual subscription than paying for it outright.

Also get familiar with eReaderIQ.com

I got Kindle Unlimited, but after a while of not using it I unsubscribed. Some more months passed and I realised that it was still working for some reason, so now I have free Unlimited.

If you're going to do that, you may as well join Libby as a Chicago Public Library User.

I would imagine it’s got a lot more restrictions in place making it harder to do?

The address is just a typically tax free (in the US) address to take some figure complications out of the mix.

Personally don’t use subs for books as they are lacking what I want, so rather spend the same money to buy books every month which I can also share with the whole family.

Which is why eReaderIQ is great as I usually pay $1.99-2.99 for stuff on my wishlist and max $4.99.

The Chicago Public Library is one of the only bigger libraries where all you need to sign up is a Chicago address, which you can find online.

I think you can borrow 15 books for 3 weeks at a time. Not sure about magazines/audiobooks etc.

Lekker. And integrates directly with Kindle?

thanks, will try!

However, it seems to be geo-restricted on the Kindle themselves, no? We can't activate Kids+ or Kindle Unlimited..and the rep on the chat tells me that because we're in SA & both aren't available in this country.

I'll try US.

No, no restriction on the device.

It’s all account based.

There may be a restriction on the voucher itself meaning you’ll need to make it a UK account, but I would still try US first as it’s almost always cheaper.

(Have 2xSA Kindles, 1xUS Kindle and 2xUS Fire Tablets all using the same account).
