Kissing on first date?

Wow. I'm so pleased I'm providing you all with such amusement

And you can't ban me. I'm not even a teen anymore, which I guess makes it worse (or more amusing, probably)

If you think we're laughing, imagine that girl actually has a profile on here.

So there’s this girl who lives literally a few houses down from me. I’ve been into her for quite a while and on past occasions she was always in a relationship (one of those girls that holds a boyfriend for a long time) so I was unable to make my move. But I’m patient. About a week ago I saw on her Facebook page that she’d just broken up with her current BF. I wasted no time in getting chatting to her through FB and asked her out for coffee.

Other than seeing her occasionally when I got a lift from college with her mom, I’ve never really had any significant contact with her before now. We met Sunday evening and it went really well – better than I would’ve expected. We talked about the usual random ****. School, uni, jobs, movies, weekend activities blah blah. I’m a pretty shy guy and usually find myself with awkward silences during theses things, but I’d popped a few anti-anxiety pills before I left and after a few minutes I was totally chilled and we ‘clicked’ pretty well.

I got a lift home with her in her car and told her I really enjoyed it and we should get together and go clubbing or something next weekend or something, and she said yeah we should. We said goodbye and I think I made it pretty obvious how I felt, and don’t think I’m wrong in thinking it was mutual. This friend of mine told me I should’ve kissed her.

I’m pretty incompetent at 'reading' these situations, but is it the norm for two people relatively new to each other to kiss on a first date? Everyone I've asked says I should've. I won’t say I wouldn’t have liked too, and I thought about it, but then I didn't want to get slapped either :p

It seems like one of those things that go without saying, and I feel like a total ****er for not doing it. What is you guys' take on this?

/facepalm

The tribe has spoken . . .

Now FSCK OFF!

Haha just imagine she reads all of this and brings it up when they see each other again...

Oh and if you take anxiety pills, doesn't that mean that you are not in fact yourself? You can't perpetuate the pill popping. So if you want her to like you for you, you should be the bumbling person you might be, then she can like you for the guy (skitter, geez seriously dude what kind of name is that :P ) you are, and not the pill popper!

Well let me just say this.... at least she is not using you.

I think if you feel a vibe and have a moment then go for it. If you just pull in to her for no reason at all then you could mess it up.
A few years ago I met up with an ex GF of mine after not seeing each other for like 4 years. It was like a short month relationship that fizzled because of stupid things. Anyway so I see her again and she is all grown up and way hotter, she agrees to go to coffee with out any issues. We talk for hours and its great but eventually I walk her to her car and we say goodbye. There was no vibe or anything but I was really keen to make something happen... so I pulled in and she kissed me back. Proper kiss. Then we say goodbye and we never speak again.

The moral of the story is that she could see that I was just trying to get laid and make something out of nothing.. in the process I messed it up. Really lame as I think if I had played it right I might have had a chance.

I think if you don't have like a moment or something then just give her a kiss on the cheek or a hug or something. Its leaves the door open and shows her you are keen and patient.

Ha ha, Dude, in all honesty the best advice is to stop analysing things so much! It just becomes a vicious circle. You analyse everything, become more anxious and then bumble through a date because of this anxiousness. If the moment feels right to give her a kiss, then do so. If it doesn't happen, then so be it. If I look back I realise in hindsight that there were many opportunities that I perhaps missed but I can tell you one thing, and that is that there are equally many, if not more, opportunities that I did not miss. If this chick digs you she will stick around. If she doesn't dig you, then one goodbye kiss is unlikely to have changed this.

Not a chance. Technologically impaired duck comes to mind.

As for the pills; to each his own. Some people have charm, I have Azor.

geez okes, give the guy a break, we've all been nervous around a girl at some point in our lives.

Don't worry guy, its normal, all advice ill give you is FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND PURE, stay away from "the friends zone", go on a few dates, tell this chick that you like her if you like her, try and kiss her, if she kisses you back, congrats, if she doesn't, move on to the next one... and gl,hf ;)
