As an old fart, I would say that you did the right thing. Relax and be yourself. Forget the anti-anxiety pills. Don't plan your moves. You are not an actor in a play. Enjoy each other's company, as friends. If things are going to happen, they will happen.

I'm almost 20, and nothings happened for me... point, sometimes things just don't happen, a little intervention from your side is needed ;). Oh, I'm not ugly, or anything like that, copacetic would kill me if I said I was :o
 
Still think you should just kiss her. Be confident, not cocky, just confident, and make the move otherwise you will be the friend forever and live to see her walk around with another guy :D so no taking your time, just do it, and if she rejects you, mpve on there are a lot of girls! And dude you are 20, just live :D
