Hi there, I know you can switch on debug mode inside Kodi.

But my Kodi just crashes every time you start it up.
It does not even reach the home screen.

I have tried to reinstall Kodi 15.1 , 15 and even to 14.

Normally this happens when there is a media file that is corrupt.
Is there any place that Kodi writes a log file why it crashes so I can get to the bottom of it.

Thanks in advance for help

If Windows then C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Kodi where xxx is your username.
Linux is in your home directory under ./.kodi

I had this before, then I found I had to install the DirectX 11 version, which solved this problem. Now it still crashes on some video sources which my laptop on the non-DirectX 11 version doesn't crash on, but not all of them, so it's more usable - whereas before, I couldn't even open it.

If you have Windows 8 or higher, this would probably be the issue you're having.

Assuming that you are using Windows, do you meet the following minimum hardware requirements for graphics?

ATI Radeon R420 (X800) or newer supported, ATI Radeon R700 (HD 4000) or newer recommended.
Intel GMA 950 (945G) or newer supported, Intel GMA X4500HD (G45) or newer recommended.
NVIDIA GeForce 6-Series and newer supported, GeForce 8-Series and newer recommended.

Yes I have been running it for the past year on that one machine.
Its a Hp Proliant microserver NL50 with GTX610 and 4 gig ram.
So it was working perfectly.

Will have a look tonight and see if I can see anything from the logs.

Ok so I looked at my logs.

I cant open the crashlogs .dmp files, unless there is an editor that can work.

In my Kodi.log file the last entry was "12:05:59 T:3768 NOTICE: ES: Starting UDP Event server on 0.0.0.0:9777"
In my Kodi.old.log file the last entry was "12:05:40 T:3616 ERROR: Control 10 in window 12999 has been asked to focus, but it can't"
and that looks like an issue but I have no idea what to look for, for that

But on some of the threads in Kodi it says that you should not worry about the wrong call.

Did anybody ever encountered this?
I cant see that the pyhton version is incorrect or corrupted.

Did you read my post?

Ok so I installed Media player 2 on the machine and now all a sudden Kodi works again, So I guess one of the libraries that they both uses got updated.
