Line rental has gone up from R111 to R125 or thereabouts. I'll most likely go to Neotel once they have really proved themselves and when they offer a really awesome broadband deal with normal phones and such that I can use my phone and adsl at the same time.....
I wish Neotel would put an offer on the table that consists of a Internet package only. I don't give a rat's ass about free minutes and all that.

We use Telkom's free minutes like a mad hatter but that's only because we get 1300 minutes per month. We can't even finish it, because off-peak is free (up to 60min)... Neotel's free minutes only counts for (as with Telkom), on-net, or Neotel-to-Neotel, so what's the use anyways then?

so when everyone leaves telkom i'm guessing they'll be bailed out by the goverment, SAA-style. what an absolute waste of time and infrastructure...

At the mo I will stay with Telkom. The free minutes on a Closer package is awesome and besides, my ADSL is as stable as can be, never been down. It really whips my 3G's butt. I have also heard that Telkom is installing a WCDMA network and will be rolling out soon. That on top of WiMAX, things look good for the future.

I think I'll stay with Telkom. I'm not sure if ADSL subscribers are buggering off since ping's aren't improving with this so-called "hang up".

The ADSL users are staying probably. Only wireless alternatives - which is not an alternative really...

How about we make a poll to see who is using vodacom here... I'd really like to see all the telkom haters using vodacom services. Bunch of chops.

Sadly I could no longer wait for Neotel. Got an ADSL line a few weeks ago. :-(

But I let the technician who came to check out the line know that I was just waiting for Neotel to be available in my area...the way his face dropped was so funny when I rattled off Neotel's offerings. It was almost as if he couldn't believe that people actually new about Neotel.

And Telkoms ridiculously high line rentals is pathetic. The way they double charge ADSL users should be illeagl. Can't we lay a complaint with the Competition Commission. Oh wait...Telkom doesn't believe the CC has the authority to dictate how they do business.

What about a poll that measure how many people would like an internet only option?
Something like -
Do you need your line for:
1) Phone and Internet
2) Phone only
3) Internet only
4) War dialling like it's '89

Or something like that :p

Ina Wilken, South African National Consumers’ Union vice-chairperson, said: “Telkom needs to be careful. They need to nurture customers so that when real competition enters the market it will be able to hold on to them.”

When real competition enters the market im going to tell Telkom to f--- right off no matter what. I hope telkom gets wind of this.

Neotel please take note - offer us the real stuff now:):)

Waiting for NeoSnOTtel to get their thumbs out and get the ethernet device goin before telling telkom where to shove their line

There is no cost effective alternative to telkom where I am. I'll jump ship should that ever change.

I'm so glad that the complex I have moved in to has all the units wired up with ADSL. I don't even pay Telkom rental for my DSL anymore. :D Skype ftw.

Not directly anyway, I'm sure it's included in the overall levy somewhere.

I converted to prepaid at the beginning of the year. Line rental R120 for the year. I charged the phone with R80 of calls and still have not used them up.
Just for the record, there are no Free minutes with Telkom, just good marketing...

if it wasn't for adsl i'll dump them the second neotell is in range

I wish Neotel would put an offer on the table that consists of a Internet package only. I don't give a rat's ass about free minutes and all that.

I'm with you there. The reason I stick with telscum is bcoz I can make free calls to other telkom numbers at night and weekends. And most people out there will probably stick with telkom for a while still.

I did away with mine in November 2007...so it's been close to a year...good riddance

As soon as Neotel can provide me with a fixed line DSL service I'll consider cancelling Telkom, until then I'm stuck with them. The koppies around my house sort of block every wireless signal in existance.

I haven't done away with my landline because I NEED it for ADSL, even though I don't give the number to anybody, don't make any calls or receive any calls. Just throwing R120 into the dustbin every month. <3 Telkom
