Landline users hang up

+1. B4$t4rd5. Funny thing is - as has been pointed out before - the voice functionality of your line can be down while your ADSL works just fine. Yet, we are not allowed to have ADSL only. :mad:

The line rental part is a nice big freebie for Telkom. Nobody have said no to free money before. They could just connect your line to the DSLAM, but that would mean they can't charge you "line rental", but only the "ADSL service" charge.

No, there really are free minutes :D I'm on a closer package, and it really is cost effective. If you take the entire amount I pay telkom every month, and divide it by the amount of time I've spent on the phone, it'd work out to an incredibly low cost per call.

And yet Telkom still turn a profit. That is probably what calls should have cost us anyways. If they can have free local calls overseas, and still turn a profit, what makes Telkom different?

Actually, I think it's subsidised by those not on a Closer plan. And by calls you make during non-Callmore time, since they are a bit more expensive than normal calls - I just never make calls during non-Callmore time :D

I know what you're saying, and yes, they still make a profit and calls should be cheaper. But on the Closer package I save a fortune as compared to what I'd be spending if I wan't on a Closer package.

If you actually use your phone, then yes, it is a win for you. I, personally, don't use my phone at all, yet have to the "line rental" just to have the "added service" they call ADSL. I wish Telkom (and Neotel) will get a clue, as to the needs of people. Catering for just one type of customer is really :sick:
