@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

Unfortunately this is now in full effect.

No it's not.

The support agent misinformed Seeyou. Seeyou and I have had a huge email conversation about what's going on. I'm sure that Seeyou will respond confirming at some point.

Regards,
Chris

Have amended my post. Didn't see the name. Seeyou has a more complex config

Can confirm that Chris got in touch with me and gave me a very detailed run down of what was happening from the Vox side. The log on the Telkom Radius system has captured all of the disconnection events as "Port error". I'm not sure what these are or why they're happening as the line is absolutely solid using a single 20mbps account, so I'll have to follow up with Telkom. I do appreciate the support and feedback though, kudos to Vox and Chris.

Hope you get it sorted out! Could be your router caving under load as I implied could happen in PM as load balancing needs a bit of horse power to run without issues.

I had the same thought, which is why I tried dialing one account on the router, and one directly on the modem via my second NIC - same result. Need to find out what "port error" actually means to have more to go on.

check router/modem log

Nice to see VOX representation in this thread and on this forum!

Now, how about a 100 gig4gig with bolt-on for R419 per month? Or a 200gb gig4gig with bolt-on for R779 per month??!

Are there any plans to extend the gig4gig range beyond a 25gb package? R15 per gig top up rate is expensive by today's standards.

Can't help you there; that's a product decision. I'm on the OSS side of the house.

Thanks for the prompt response...

Quite a few users are put off by the inconvenience of hoping between ISP's. Would be nice to have a few more options that don't involve signing up for 2 different products.

If it's not too much trouble maybe you could convey this request to new product development. :)

The discussions about more bandwidth + bolt on have been around the house a bunch of times. There are business reasons why this hasn't happened. The multiple products are unfortunate but a reality.

Have you looked at a Fatpipe product + G4G & Bolt on as an option? I know there's two log ins for this, but some nice devices out there can change auth at different times of the day to make your life easier such a Mikrotik's.

I don't see the combined product becoming available but I'll raise it with the right people.

Chris

Yes, I had a 200gb fatpipe for a month. Great product but I ended retaining a 200gb capped WebAfrica account for my peak usage. The WebAfrica cost per gig is significantly less plus there's the added bonus of 800gb to use between 12am-6am (not that's needed now with bolt-on).

All-in-all very happy with VOX bolt-on, but would love to give them more business, if only they were a little more flexible re gig4gig and bolt-on.

I'm using Perfect Automation Macro software recorder to automatically log me in and out of various accounts according to the time of day. Works very well but I have a few clients offsite where this solution wouldn't be suitable. Added hardware is a consideration...

Can't think of a reason why Vox would be amenable to people purchasing 2x 10mbps bolt-on accounts and bonding them, but won't sell 1x 20mbps bolt-on account for twice (or even 3x) the price. Could you shed some light?

Please either reply to this thread or PM me with the sites that you're having troubles with. We don't block any DNS on our network. If you are experiencing a problem, then it's a problem for us as well.

Chris

Hey Chris,

Block was the wrong word to use and I apologize for that. I meant that there is definitely an issue with some sites on Vox DNS but I am unsure if its intentional or unintentional(Probably unintentional as you say).
To be honest I had the problem a month ago and after doing the DNS switch I didnt test the Vox DNS again.
I will test again and if I still have an issue then I will PM you directly.

Due to the sometimes poor Vox support, some of us dont bother trying to report errors as we never get feedback or fixes and we just find work arounds if possible.
Last time I spent a week trying to show the support guys that on both fatpipe and g4g, that there was some form of shaping or poor performance on certain USENET providers and on different ports. I showed them that on Webafrica and Afrihost/Axxess I got fullspeed regardless of the USENET provider. On Vox I could only get 1 USENET provider on a certain port to work correctly.
As soon as midnight hit, then all usenet providers on the various ports went fullspeed on Vox.
It dragged on so I gave up and stuck to the USENET provider that worked consistently.

Thanks for coming on and providing feedback. You and Voxy make a difference.
I will report direct to you and Voxy going forward.

I hear you, I've raised the question.

Regards,
Chris

Thanks for that. I have asked a couple sales people at Vox and posted in the forums asking for this.
More than willing to pay even a little extra.
EDIT: By a little extra I mean even if its not proportional to R59/10meg and a slightly higher price than R59/10meg

+1 R150/pm for 20Mbs Bolt-On would be great.

I know exactly why this would have happened. This was a few weeks back I assume? If yes, then this was most likely due to network congestion.

Imagine trying to push a watermellon through a key hole... you get the point. Some of the watermellon won't make it through. This is what happens when a network is congested and your traffic is not prioritized (like voice).

Chris

Agreed! Would jump on that in a flash! But with the gig4gig 1gb offer ending end of June this would be bundled with a gig4gig 25gb account. So R239 perhaps? That would be fantastic!!

Just received a response about this ... I'll say "watch this space" for now =)
