On a serious note though ... fess up ... that 31Mbps screen shot was taken outside of Bolt on times, wasn't it?

Chris

Saturday morning at 9.14am is bolt-on time?

EDIT: Is bolt-on upload speed rate limited? I'm guessing not...

Would help if I opened my eyes and saw the time on the screen shot... I'm intrigued by this. Yes Saturday does fall into Bolt on times.

Download is rate limited to 10Mbps, upload is not limited.

Chris

DankBanker's screenshot was taken 4:14PM GMT, which would make it 6:14PM local time.

Got quite a few PMs, even got one from Chris... Decided to post this to answer them all.

Do I work for Vox? No.
Will I show you how to do it? No.
Is this real? Yes.
Are you sure? Yes.
Can I have your account? I'll pay!! No.
I'll trade you a 100GB account for it! No.
Were you using a Bolton account? Yes.
Would you mind letting me know what your DSL username is? Yes. Sorry, but for obvious reasons I can't...

Cool story.

I'm not sure why you're so apprehensive. If you've found an exploit I'd be unbelievably impressed that you found a way around subscriber management platform which controls the rate limit at the network layer.

Anyhow, nothing to substantiate the claim.

Regards,
Chris

Aaaawkward.

Dank - if you posted your screenshot from the account, it would be pretty straightforward to get your IP from the forum DB and compare against VOX's logs.

Anyway, this got weird fast.

Obviously didn't. I don't have a Vox account and the speedtest was faked.

I'm reasonably convinced that the DankBanker did in fact achieve what he claims. Why he said anything about it is beyond me though, since he has no intention of explaining how he achieved it.

I know a few exploits with various other ISPs, but I do the right thing (for me) and keep my mouth shut when I find them. :D

Or do like others and report it to us so that we can fix the problems which may lead to the degrading of services.

We never penalize for such honesty, in some cases there's a reward.

There's two possibilities here that I can see:

1) The subscriber management platform may have "lagged" for the rate limiting to kick in, allowing for a high speed test
2) A cool story

Anyways, there's only 1 customer who matches the story told in previous posts. I wonder who it might be. =)

Others do that?

But seriously, I'm on a 4Mb line with the Vox Uncapped Bolt-On, and I've never looked back. It's an excellent product for the price.

Now you just have to get your email service up to scratch. :(

What's wrong with the email?

What's wrong with the email?

It's mostly okay, but I often fail to establish a connection with the POP3 server from Outlook. Occasionally I have to try 2 or 3 times before my emails start coming through.

I have at least 6 other email addresses in Outlook, and I don't experience this issue with any of them, unless they're down for some reason.

It's not a big deal, but can be a little frustrating at times.
