@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

Any news on our willingness to pay extra for VDSL bolt-on?

I can upgrade to 40mb and I am really tempted to do so...

Just be careful, once you go 40Mbit there is no going back :D :p

Once you taste the speed you can't give it up.

I felt the same with 20mb speed... I just don't want to be that guy who is not using a service that he CAN get in his area ;-)

Im too far from my MSAN for 40meg :(
Will have to live with 20meg for now

If you are too far away from the exchange is there any hope of improvement in the future? Will Telkom have to add another exchange or what? Because I am about 3,5 km away so my max speed is about 6 Mbps, which is not great. Just wondering if we will have a chance at VDSL when they upgrade our exchange, or will that never happen?

They would have to add another MSAN closer to you so it probably wont get better for you. I think Telkom will only install with enough interest. I'm about 1km from my exchange.
In lonehill you either get awesome internet or really ****ty internet due to the placement of the new MSANS. There are 2 MSANS within 1km of each other. So the one half of lonehill is well covered and the other half is crappy.

Even though I haven't been using my account for the past 2 months, I think I'm going to hand in my notice too then, as it looks like these recurring problems aren't going away.

Sorry to hear - guess the good old days are just that.

I used my last night and after 10 everything flew but prior to that very up and down

I am beyond fed up

This cannot be rocket science for goodness sake.

Can browse MyBB via Opera but only if I bypass OpenDNS - with OpenDNS configured in the router, Opera won't resolve.

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Fatpipe is ****ed in Gauteng tonight :/

Looks like moron who is responsible for screwing up CT and PE has been transferred to Gauteng - maybe he was promoted

I know that I shouldn't be so rude, but honestly, it's enough to drive a reasonable person around the bend.

Is it so damn difficult to get this problem sorted (or at least tell us what the problem is)

Mybb resolving just fine.

With Bolt-on, MyBB was slow early on this evening, improved for a while, and now back to loading pages slowly. Changed to another ISP, and pages load fast, like they should.

EDIT : just logged onto a G-mail account using bolt-on, and much slower than usual ; something's definitely stuffed-up at VOX :erm:

Wonder what the heck is going on. MyBB didn't work again last night here in CT.

So here is my guess...

Week 1, VOX speeds crap.
Week 2, VOX speeds crap.
Week 3, VOX speeds crap.
Week 4, VOX speeds crap.
Week 5, VOX speeds crap.
Week 7, VOX update IPCs. Speeds are great.
Week 8, VOX speeds are great, though notice slight latency.
Week 9, VOX speeds are good, though notice slightly more latency.
Week 10, VOX speeds crap.
Week 11, VOX speeds crap.
Week 12, VOX speeds crap.
Week 13, VOX speeds crap.

Going by track record, it will take a few months for next IPC upgrade.
Though come mid December, things should calm down as people go on holiday.

/sigh

I'm usually the first to complain about my VOX fatpipe - but the past few weeks and days have been stellar (since the upgrades for CT).

HD Netflix, NNTP and Torrents fullspeed.

Have you tested other accounts ?

seems the limiter is buggering up tonight

I have. In fact I have access to multiple accounts.

VOX gig4gig with bolt-on
FNBConnect 4Mbps uncapped
Web Africa 120GB
Afrihost 1GB test account
Cybersmart test account

On top of that, I have all those accounts connected on my Mikrotik, and the graph you see at the top of the page, is the only graph showing those latencies in the 6pm-11pm time window. If I don't see those same latencies on the Telkom guest account, I know for a fact it is not my line, but the ISP account on which those latencies show up.
