Laptop: Sony vs Dell?

What makes you want to buy a Sony laptop?

hehe ... I actually didn't read the whole thread.

Instead of starting a new thread with the best price, I just searched for Sony and placed the query at the end. I see you all recommending Dell - but it's for someone else

Asus. Cheaper than Dell generally, even with the 3 year warranty upgrade.

Dell's are very good though. You can't go wrong with either. I just prefer the price and styling and features of Asus.

And not to mention the best in the industry local support.

ok ... so if I REALLY wanted a Sony ... whats the cheapest place?

I like Sony, and have couple of them but I don't like :
1) All the bloatware that they install on the computers
2) Their after-sales software support (drivers, etc) is really poor.

I have no problems with Sony hardware, except for the really poor Pata-Sata converter on the Vaio P netbooks, someone should start a class action lawsuit against them for that.

I usually order my Sony notebooks from B&H.
