The deactivation request is SAPS 521(h) Notification of Requirement to Deactivate a Firearm.
Most of these need a dealer to fill in his info.
Please don't leave handing in firearms to the last day. We are getting 40-50 per day, increasing daily..and can't keep up. I expect some of us are going to refuse firearms in 3 or 4 days, to give us time to process all the paperwork.
Also...PLEASE don't deactivate or hand in possible collectors items. Those you can get money for, and I cry when I hear of R50K shotguns or Mauser Broomhandles worth R10K-30K destroyed. Rather take it to someone who can advise you on what it is. Among all the junk..there have been ppl taking Purdey shotguns (R100K upwards) to the cops..and they WERE destroyed)
