Latest iPhone update is causing battery problems

My four year old Moto Z is stuck on Android 8 while my four year old iPhone 7 still gets regular updates. Heck - even my Papa Smurf iPhone 6 got an update last month.
We both know he either dropped it in a glass of Black Label or on the floor...

Oh! You completely misread that hehe, SafetyNet and such is an Android feature, and whether we like it or not, it's new hardware fuse integrations in future releases and devices will completely kill custom ROMs in the sense that you can run mainstream applications, and more apps like the one you mentioned can at anytime update to integrate it (i.e. Magisk hide will be a thing of the past sadly) . Here in South Africa it's a non issue still because we only mainly have banks to worry about and most are lenient, but overseas you can't really integrate into society with their eID software that refuses to run on anything but pure untouched stock and iDevices.
yes, Android is unfortunately going down this road, as bad as it is,
but we know why,

can "encourage" people to buy another phone, and keep the economy going.
you will ALWAYS make money from NEW phones rather than Parts to keep old ones going, thats economics 101.

hence Apple is super profitable.

I however believe in the opposite, make phones robust and reliable enough to keep going,
and not have to worry about things breaking down and forcing you to buy another.

the "Toyota corolla" model if you will.

100% agree, that's why I can't wait for the Pinephone, F(x)Tec, Librem 5+, and heck even the Fairphone to get into a good usable status. Have to pay like crap to import the devices and parts and such as usual but I'd gladly go through with it over planned obsolescence and barely cared-for long term support.

Why?

It is their choice, not so?

Does it harm you in any way?

Edit: Trying to understand the deep hate which is so bad people have to continuously tell others how wrong they are in spending their money the way the want to.

It is like telling people, spur or kfc quality is poor and not great value as advise and ignoring advice and doing it any way, because of choice. If you can label "choice" as lunacy sure.

DSTV case and point, the complete reverse of the apple debate of "choice", leave them alone blah, blah, blah.

So don't expect mercy when your "choices" get questioned and ridiculed. Apple was good, the golden years are over.

Apple and Android both have advantages and disadvantages. I use the iPhone for "show", and my Android for work.

OK.

did you try unbricking it? did you even try what XDA suggested?
and what happened? date with the trash can still?
No - I had others so I've just stuck to 8.

In your expert opinion (and I use that term as loosely as I can) what makes you believe the Apple golden years are over?
I mean they only sold 37 million phones in Q1 of 2020...keyboard experts giving their opinion on one of the largest company in the world...lol!

lets not forget if you do attempt to fix via a none authorized shop, the chances are slim that you will be able to do so, considering apple has given strict instructions to their hardware suppliers not to release any hardware components. If you do import spares like in the US, whether legit apple parts new or secondhand, the parts is labeled counterfeit and get confiscated, because only apple and their authorized repair stores is allowed to handle spares.

Every thing is intentionally glued down and special screws this or that, even going as far as pairing hardware parts with that specific phone.

SSD broke replace the entire board.
Display cable ribbon bend or broken, replace the entire board and screen.
Screen broke replace the entire board and screen.
Replace the battery, let adds costs to replace the logic board as well

I seem to remember cases of people sending stuff in for repair and getting back refurbished hardware instead for some thing as simple as a SSD failure.

Crazy part is the isheeple are aware of this, and STILL support them. Had a samsung phone was crap, but you don't see me going out and buying another one.
Are you for real? You can replace almost anything you want on an iPhone. I replaced my 6's screen by myself and no parts were confiscated. You're pushing out disinformation at will now. Lol!

wizardofid isn't entirely wrong, it was easier and less restrictive back then as per your example but these days if done by yourself or without an accredited service:

+ Replacing the battery will cause the health functionality to fail, but otherwise everything works.
+ Replacing the screen and front camera will cause FaceID to fail, which is also a telltale sign to look out for when a secondhand ad mentions this.
+ Replacing the lightning port will cause warning-error messages and moisture-awareness to fail, not as common however.
+ Replacing the rear camera on an iPhone 12 and up will cause more than half its functionality to fail.

This does play back into the 'just upgrade' philosophy they employ.

Well, if I have a phone in warranty why would I want to replace parts myself? So that argument is null and void. Outside of warranty, it's open season.

True, it's only due to the nature of circumstances where more users on average buy second-hand iDevices with void warranties and the iPhone 12 is the only device with the camera issue so you're right there, I was only speaking in general regardless of warranty and iCare.

You can sell 100 million tons of manure a year, sales stats don't indicate quality or brand loyalty it isn't as clear cut as that.It is just sales volume information not statistical analyse of the information you need to look at warranty returns, hardware failure rates, market share, repeat customers ect. Once you have that we can start discussing whether or not there is quality or loyalty to be had.

For example iphones, due to price it is unlikely consumers will buy their phone cash outright, so will resort to credit or contract when getting an iphone in some markets and portion of other markets as an example.Take away credit and contract and then have a look a brand loyalty. Large portion of devices sold are a direct result of credit and contract offerings, same applies to any other brand competing, so yes it is an impulse buy as it is easy, loyalty isn't that great as you would like to think. Additionally you can also look at what the consumer is willing to pay and considering most of it will be on credit or contract, apple pretty much priced it as such to take full advantage of credit and contract.

Have a look at returns and warranty claims as well as hardware failures for quality information.

Sales means nothing without context to be honest, so no weak argument......

Golden years ended with jobs, and additionally what I said a few posts above.

Just between you and me it isn't about hating Apple, it is about looking at the company as a whole and not just the device, as I said before Apple hardware is pretty awesome, but I don't agree with their practices, value and right to repair, ect and most of all their OS I don't agree with it, batterygate is enough for me to advise people not to get apple.

I don't hate Samsung , just think their value is poor their quality soddy and too much bloatware. You need to make the distinction between hate and dislike as well as informed choice and impulse buying.

Why do you still support Apple, even after batterygate opposing the right to repair bill, denying repair shops to Apple spares and when they do make it extremely difficult to get any thing repaired or replaced. If you tell me because their product is good, you are neither worth my time or effort.

So you really do not recommend Apple?
