Latest iPhone update is causing battery problems

Often wanted a kill switch that explodes the phone in the thief's pocket.
ever heard of cerberus?

Shotto I will check it out.

Technically you could do that on an android if you know how to write firmware level software to replace the battery controller and remove the circuit protectors, then add a small software controlled circuit to short the battery connectors directly to cause the inevitable fire note 7 style.

Or get it to explode like one of the Apples where the battery got punctured. Happened to a guy in Oz on a trail run. I suppose it will happen with any phone if that happens then.

It was the one brand I picked up on. Could've used more, but it's simply an example. I don't have an issue with Android. Hell, I had a Sony Xperia Z1 I still have and it was an awesome phone. I never understood why they never sold as many as Samsung as I rated it higher than the equivalent Sx at that stage.

The fact that you needed to search to find out if there has been battery draining issues on android speaks for it self. Sure there have been lots of issues with phones running adroid, hardware failure, software issues, ect, But that is that specific phone brand not android.

Apple has a small pool of hardware and a OS only they supply and still manages to mess it up, compared to the 100's of thousands of different android custom build versions out there.

playing watch dogs too much I think,
where you can do exactly that, but not with ALL phones, only certain ones.

old phones, still being sold, and still quite a community supporting them even on ancient hardware,
for instance the S5 , one can still get Roms for it
, still being sold on takealot, and still plenty out there on the market.

not like apple, that stop support, find a dustbin and throw it away.
look at the old Iphones 3,4, 5, go and try fixing them today.
I used to be a staunch supporter of this model with mobiles, but these days it's in the dying phase. While these old iPhones still receive official support that no OEM can match to this day, you'll soon find that you won't be able to integrate properly into society when more and more apps bolster down on security and SafetyNet features that can no longer be bypassed or masked rendering your device a basic utility, not that there's anything wrong with that of course. I'm pragmatic in choosing iPhones and iPads only due to how long they've lasted me and not needing to power-clean every Android device I've bought in the name of security and sanity, and sometimes, it's not even a clean-cut process now that more OEMs stopped supporting sideloading.
I can only hold thumbs for alternative mobile OSes where I can still continue to integrate as basically into society as possible but easily replace worn out / broken parts and keep the OS updated for 10s of years to come.

I've also owned a Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, S4, S5, S7edge, Sony Z3, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and probably more I can't remember. I currently have a Sony ZX, Nokia 2.3 and a Samsung S2 Tab.

You see, unlike little judgmental sheep like yourself who seem to think they have the inside track on tech, I base my choices on my own experiences. In this case, I prefer to use Apple for the last couple of years after much chopping and changing for a variety of reasons which could ultimately be labelled as "my choice".

So where does this place me on your silly little spectrum?

Edit: Samsung A51 also. My eldest has it now. Nice phone

Well.....

fanboi <............|..........................................................................................> not a fanboi

Right about there on my silly spectrum ;-)

I have clearly touched your fifi's let me leave you with your choices, enjoy ;-)

my iphone 6 packed up a month ago
the screen has a mind of its own and just starts typing whatever it wants and launches all the apps.
Do a shutdown and start again and it behaves for a little

but its now so bad that when i switch it on it wont accept my 6 digit code, so ive tossed it into the drawer and using my android work phone as it is a dual sim. Screw Apple
You're blaming Apple for your 6 year old phone not working properly? Lol tsek

apple is about PROFIT above all else, go back to their roots even,
first Apple PC's, blocked ports for expansion,
while the equivalent windows PC had that extra connection for extra Slots on the main board.

same thing with their phones, why cant IOS run on a original Iphone?
because they designed it that way to fail.
so you go and BUY another,

same thing with everything apple does, its DESIGNED to fail, not Designed to be fixed

Still have my old S4 mini, fixed it myself with another broken unit,
upgraded to Android 11 pixel experience, works like a dream, and best of all, removable battery, the ultimate longevity in a phone.

what you say WONT happen, as not everybody agrees that phones need to be locked down so heavily.
I mean even myself, rooted phone, but still able to run the mcnazi app, even with rooting.

I'll be upgrading my 11 to a 12 shortly. Whoever owns it can do what they like with it I guess.
your on contract, correct?
pay X for a phone, if it breaks get another type deal?

same thing like buying a Tesla, if it breaks just get another, dont spend time trying to get it working again yourself.

The fact that I had to search out there meant I wasn't born with a search engine in my brain. It's generally where people go to find information on the Internet.
Sheesh, I am clever, but not THAT clever. Bit of a silly comment right there.

If your company isn't in it for the profit, you have a problem.

...and car manufacturers have issues with the software on their cars. What's the point? Plenty of companies have a small pool they develop for and have issues. It's not just Apple. If you believe that, then maybe you need to seach to find out there...

As I said. TSEK!

Phones break. Much like anything else. Also, knowing you, it's probably been dropped 50 times while you were drunk or knobbing your caravan.
actually no, Phones Break because they DESIGNED that way,
its completely possible to keep a phone going forever with updates and new parts, almost like a ancient Citi golf.

look at this android phone, best idea for a phone Ive ever seen.

break a screen, put in a new one, battery wears out, get another.
drop it in the drink, dry it out, and it will still work.
