LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

The 5 series 40incher at Makro gets an ok review at this site:
http://televisions.reviewed.com/content/samsung-un40eh5000-led-lcd-hdtv-review

Asuming that the UA version is exactly the same as the UN version.

It's the same yes. I wouldn't worry too much about the reviews. Most entry level TVs are cut from similar cloths, it'll do the basics, has a USB HD media player, and if it's at a good price then go for it.

By good price, it should be at least R500 - R1,000 cheaper than the current H range, or last year's F range.

For the plasma fan I came cross this :

PANASONIC VIERA 42" PLASMA TV
2012 Panasonic Viera 42" X-Series plasma TV (TH-P42X30Q) and Panasonic stand for sale, with original boxing and manual. In excellent working condition save for slight logo burn on bottom right of screen. Reason for selling is a smaller TV has been bought as a better fit for the new apartment. Cost of freight/courier shall be for the account of the buyer.

Does anyone have an idea what model of 55 inch TV Telkom is offering for R1152 per month. It looks expensive but it may include telephone and Adsl rental

I asked a year back so it's changed I'm sure - was the 6 series. But it was the TV installment only... So it is expensive

Is this a good price? Not taking into account the whole eBucks Rewards discount thing, so R6,939.

I see on this forum a number of recommendations for the Samsung 60 inch FHD plasma PA60H5000. Game have it for R 11,999 until 12 Aug.
Is there anyone with this tv and how does it perform. There are a number of websites warning against pentile displays as you can see pixelation up close

I bought it on Sunday at Diorn wired and took it back on Monday the next day. It's a pixilated mess I could almost count them even in HD (supersport and movie magic channels ).
Played some blue ray on it and they looked even worse. And it's not about settings because there are none all that it has in settings is colours like brightness levels etc..

I was so disappointed in it I felt like I just went 10 years back in time. Even my 5 year old 40" lcd outperformes it. They stripped everything out and the only thing you get really is a large panel. And it has only 2 hdmi ports and 1 usb.

I'm now looking 4 a 6 series lcd. Not sure between the 55" or 48" 'coz I felt d 60" was way too big for my living room.

PP yes it was from up close. But I went close close I could see it from a distance. I actually haven't looked for the PS60F5500 when I saw the other one I thought it was a good deal. :(

UA48H5500 at Makro for R7999.

Seems like an amazing price, especially considering the 1tb data free as well.

What's the general feeling about this TV and its PQ?

I got one 2 months ago and love it. The purists on here will probably nay-say it, but I suits my needs. I have it mounted above a fireplace, slightly tilted towards the couch. Our old D550 (directly behind the couch, facing the other way) isn't getting any love anymore...

The Smart apps feel a bit sluggish while the TV starts up, but give it a minute and it's fine. I'm running Netflix and Hulu+ natively on the TV, connected to the home wifi. It's a nice, clean setup with no wires. :)

Any takers on this at a price of R6,939. PostmanPot? :)
