I need to buy the biggest TV on a budget for my parents.
I asked earlier about the 51" plasma but have not decided yet, my brother who will be using the TV doesn't seem too keen on it.

Does anyone have experience with the following:
http://www.kalahari.com/Technology/Hisense-LEDN50D36-50-Full-HD-LED-TV_p_49237361

The other options are:
http://www.kalahari.com/Technology/Samsung-PS51F4000-51-Enhanced-Definition-Plasma_p_47877846
&
http://www.kalahari.com/Technology/Samsung-UA40H5303-40-Full-HD-LED-Smart-TV_p_49765156

The 40" is in there is the other two are a no go.
TV will be used for:
Movies & Series
Playstation 3

The light in the room may also have been underestimated, I'm not sure how reflective plasma's really are as I don't have much personal experience, but the room does have two patio doors which will be covered with curtains. The one does face a carport, so not much light coming through there, and this patio door will be directly behind the TV.
I would prefer one of the Samsung's but this is not for me. I basically want to know if the Hisense is an absolute no go?

Hi Guys

I'm looking at getting another TV for the bedroom and cannot decide between the Samsung 40inch LED TV UA40F5000 for R4,885.00 or the HISENSE LEDN40K366X3D for R 4,889. I already have a Samsung 51" Plasma which is about 3 years old and is in the TV room. I would most probably go with the Samsung but like the idea of the 3d facility on the Hisense (at the same the as the Samsung). Has anybody had any experience with the Hisense TV's. Also I see that the Samsung indicates that the CMR is 100Mhz as opposed to the Hisense CMR at 200 Mhz. Does this make a difference?

Thanks.

I have a Hisense 55K390PAD, which is a 3D Smart LED etc etc. Good quality and so on, smart lags a bit sometimes when doing something like watching netflix or loading big files from a drive due to the low processing power but still quite livable.

3D is a bit of a gimmick though to be honest, and I rarely use it unless I have friends over so we can use 3D to both see full screens when playing splitscreen.

Thanks for the response. So you don't really use the 3D facility to watch movies? I'm looking at getting another TV and the kids are nagging me to get a 3D TV. In the meantime I have also found out that the above mentioned Samsung has 50 or 60 Hz refresh rate so should I rather spend extra and get a tv with proper 100Hz or 200Hz refresh rate. Does it matter that much?

Had the exact same problem...ended up getting the Samsung 55H6400 mostly because of the wealth of information available to help get comfortable with the purchase.

Nah don't use the 3D much beyond the mentioned points.

Mine has 400hz, basically just smoothness that the TV can bring out by adding frames, but I doubt it would be easy to see much of a difference above 100hz to be honest.

Thanks for all your input. I decided to go the LG 40LB623T instead. Image quality looked much better that the Samsung and the Hisense and it was a 2014 model at that.

The higher it goes the worse it gets.

I recommend ignoring it all together and switching the extra frames off when you get the TV anyway.

Ignore all that crap and look at raw picture quality.

The marketing is fascinating, how higher numbers people are lured to in thinking they are better, actually worsen picture quality.

Raw picture quality at 24 - 60Hz, another aspect where plasma excels. RIP.

I ended up going for the Hisense 50" led and ended up paying R5300.
They are happy with it.
I still think the plasma would have been a good idea due to the SD feed.
I'm thinking of a way to get the HD feed here but requires a change in the installation or a 20m hdmi cable which I read is not a good idea.

50" I think is a minimum for that room and the end result looks good.
A smaller smart samsung would not have helped them as telkom will not be replacing cables in the area due to risk.

Now I'll have to wait for registration of my property to fire up my plasma.
